To be honest, I've only ever heard "alt-left" used as a slur equating leftists with fascists, never to refer to actual tankies. Probably because tankies are rare enough that I've literally never met or read about them in any venue other than SA, and because everyone else on the left either despises them or (more frequently) doesn't know they exist.

If every Republican voter is a Nazi lover and "alt-right" means "Nazis who won't admit it" that probably makes the Alt-Right a massive part of the population.

the 'alt right' i think can be plainly defined as a conservative off-shoot looking to pull conservative norms in this country much further left, much quicker, by attempting to rebirth fascism using gay frog memes and internet racism i dont think the left has a corollary

You are just describing the fact that people care about their interests and get emotional about stuff which affects them, which yes they always will and it's unfair to penalize them for. That seems a bit overreaching in my eyes. We're all "people", so to speak, and I feel everyone should get a fair chance and not at all be discriminated against based of their race, gender, or sexual orientation. But where do these people's interests lie that falls so far outside of a normal leftist's views that others can differentiate between them?

To be honest I know literally nothing about the country post WWII so for all I know maybe it's entire post-colonial history has been this hosed up. The drug epidemic there is serious even if Duterte addresses it in the most thuggish way possible. Leads to a lot of people willing to vote for the "Law & Order" candidate even if he openly talks about murdering people and wanting to commit rapes. Around the time of the election there was negative press about him because he'd said in a speech that if he had the chance, he would have joined in on the gang rape and murder of an Australian missionary. He later clarified in another speech that he wasn't joking when he said it despite people trying to pass it off as such, perhaps he'll do the same again here.
