got in, played a few games, best experience follows i singlehandedly repaired the car as AJ (who is my GIRL, she owns v hard - silent sprinting is insanely good) and 4 other people stole it because they were the ones with the keys. i got musical chairs'd out. i said okay, whatever, it's still early in the game, i'll go do something else. driver runs over one guy. everyone laughs, i try to get in...driver speeds off without me. other 2 people in the car are calling the driver a colossal rear end in a top hat. then jason pops out of the woods and stops the car. over the next 10 minutes, all 3 people in that car and 2 other people who incidentally found the car get demolished by jason. i just hide in a nearby cabin and wait for jason to pop out, which he eventually does to go check on the boat. At which point I pop out, start the car, and drive off. Alone. The guys in dead chat thought it was the funniest goddamn thing they'd ever seen. Stealth PSA, it takes your composure into account as well, say you're sneaking in a cabin as AJ and everything is fine, odds are Jason won't spot you even if he's around and uses sense, now say you are in a cabin sneaking and you find a corpse, then he can see you because of the composure hit, Jenny is actually quite good for that as she has 6/10 stealth and 10/10 composure, keep your flashlight on ALWAYS as not having it on affects composure, if you're outside and Jason's around just aim it at a wall. I gotta admit I'm not the biggest fan of stat stuff as some counselors being near you can e actively detrimental like Vanessa or Chad, I hope this game doesn't turn into a min max sperg fest.

I haven't run into a situation where someone is detrimental really, beyond this one dork who was apparently a quadrapeligic because he was controlling the game with voice commands. His inability to shut up and casual racism and sexism got really grating and then outright awful as he beat up a teammate trying to repair a car.

In steam > settings > downloads. That will allow you to set your download region so you can download and authenticate the game. If you're having trouble finding servers then the only thing the devs have said is restart the game.

Following the advice you guys gave, I loving survived the full 20 mins as punk girl. Jason found me near the last 3 minutes and it was basically a game of hide and seek in this one cabin and holy poo poo I was sweating like mad.

Played my first few rounds as counselor. How do you stop it from randomly picking one for you? I wanted to main Jenny but keep getting a random selection, and I ended up with Vanessa last time. It didn't go too badly, though. I ended up the last one alive, shooting Jason in the face with a flare gun twice. The second time I heard him busting down the door, so I waited on the other side of the room for him to break open so I could shoot him and dive through the window. I managed to pick up a shotgun right before he got me. I survived once when we managed to call the cops early in the round. I picked up the shotgun at the very beginning and was out of stamina running uphill, as a Vanessa was waiting for me at the top to try and catch up with her because she wouldn't stop loving sprinting ahead of me. I spun around and fired while screaming and blasted him in the face, and that was enough to help us run. We ended up hopping between cabins and through windows until all but one of us escaped.

Click on the ? symbol to pick your counselor or Jason in lobby, otherwise you do it in the main menu. And yea lone wolf is viable, there's even a perk for it that raises your composure when nobody is near you, only bad thing is that if Jason gets you, you're hosed.

Just got done playing a handful of matches. Got to play Jason twice. First time I didn't know WTF I was doing so only got 1 kill. Next time I threw people through windows, hit them with throwing knives, and gouged out their eyes with my spear. "Such a good boy Jason" playing in my ear from his mom every time I killed someone. GOTY.

I played a bit of the beta but I'm sort of lost when I should be running/walking/stealthing. It seems like even walking makes a ton of "noise". Also, is there a way to tell your fear level without looking at your counselor's face?

I've got lost three times with the boat now. Is there a sign for the exit area? I never get the time to follow the edge of the map until I find it. Haven't had the map with me any of the times either.

Join the goon group/discord in the OP. Private matches are infinity better than randoms.... ....unless you're playing with Snatch Duster, then he'll leave your rear end to die and crash the car 2 inches from the finish line.  This is also acceptable horror movie trope gameplay.

It appears new players can access the game without issues right now. My friend is playing just fine, meanwhile I still cannot join the servers because "Database login failure" since noon. What a loving waste.
