He is extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeemely cynical and self aware but he plays himself off as a flamboyant loose cannon. I think he just enjoys stirring up poo poo since he didn't take a White House position, and that's surely only because he didn't want one, he and Trump have been really tight for decades.

Trump "fired" Roger Stone but it was a sham and they're still tight. Stone's job is basically outreach to the crazies because Trump can't appear on Infowars every day.
