Well, they're now a key player in the push to reduce emissions along with India and the EU and we've essentially given them that leadership. They aren't opening any new power plants and are making huge investments in solar and wind but I'm sure because you personally don't trust their government records none of that counts.

China literally fabricates its carbon emissions statistics. Like they will physically pump clean air into the vicinity of the detection equipment to mask their rating.

gently caress you, this is a bigger hurdle than that and you know it. There's a bit of a difference between "won the majority of the state's popular vote in one presidential election" and "total control of the state apparatus", and there's a bit of a difference between "more than 50% of electoral votes" and "75% of states".

But since you ask, the GOP has 27 states sufficiently in the bag that they could hypothetically ratify an amendment if the GOP voted in lockstep. They still need 11.

If we assume they flip the governor in every state they control the legislature, which is the less insane of the propositions, they're still down by 6, which is closer than I'd like but approaching the insurmountable even in the Age of Trump and the Dominion of Sessions. So, here's your loving maps.

So in addition to another gubernatorial sweep, their path to victory probably involves total dominance over all of: Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, Maine, and gently caress it, let's throw in New Jersey. That's five, which is why I said "effectively impossible" and not "literally impossible". Maybe they also flip Illinois.

edit: I'm also not sure whether it's literally possible in 2018 or even 2020, but I've done enough factual rebutting of idiotic "nothing will ever matter again" one-liners for the moment that I'm not going to bother digging through 18 state legislative elections per cycle

It is an important distinction that the falsification happens at the local level and that the central government is trying to stop it. (Or so they say....)

quote:

No official data on the extent of the problem has been released since a government audit in 2013 found hundreds of power firms had falsified emissions data, although authorities have continued to name and shame individual operators.

"There is no guarantee of avoiding under-reporting (of emissions) at local plants located far away from supervisory bodies. Coal data is very fuzzy," said a manager with a state-owned power company, who did not want to be named because he is not authorized to speak to the media.

Also Fojar's conspiracy doesn't even make sense. There isn't an air-sensor to blow fresh air into anyway.
