That camel gif reminded me of when I was in the netherlands. I found a rad petting zoo in a touristy area and got talking with the staff because I'm a bit of an international petting zoo buff. I noticed their animals were all mostly just in one big fenced in area rather than lots of individual pens, and people were mostly free to just mingle in there with them and get their pet on. I asked how that works out, safety issues and stuff (they had an alpaca, a tiny horse, a couple cows, so bigger animals that could hurt stupid people). They told me they only let people into the large pen if the groups are small because the animals know they have more than enough room to just move away if kids are bugging them and it all works out. They said they also tended to keep the gate locked if it was a chinese group because the kids would harass the poo poo out of the animals, or get severely traumatized because a chicken came near them. They said the biggest problem were old chinese ladies trying to "harvest" what they can from the animals. They'd search the fields for chicken eggs and try to get into the coop to get more eggs, if the alpaca was getting shaggy they'd try to pull the wool off, one even tried to milk the cow into a plastic bag she had on hand kept chasing the cow around when it wasn't having it. They also had some special grass or grains or something (they couldn't quite translate) for the animals to eat and the chinese tourists would often try to pick it all. They'd also lift their kids over fences and just plop them down in pens for animals not really suitable for petting. I have no idea what they'd do with some dirty alpaca wool or a ziplock bag full of raw milk during their tour???? But it's FREE STUFF and the stupid lazy locals are idiots for not taking advantage!

Last summer my mother and father in law would spend many a nice evening playing basketball and skateboarding on the court behind our house. Whenever kids would show up to play they would pack up, and half the time the kids would either tell them to join them, or pantomime that they could just have two half-court games at the same time. I honestly don't know how they came through the cultural revolution and turned out so generous, helpful, open-minded and selfless.

It's really cool when you remember that a Chinese company was caught selling wind turbines to the US powered by software stolen from a US firm. quote:The US criminal case, ironically, stems from Sinovel’s sale of four turbines to Massachusetts customers — each turbine operating with the allegedly stolen software, according to the indictment. State records show that at least one of the turbines, at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s DeLauri Sewer Pump Station in Charlestown, was purchased using $4.7 million in stimulus funds. and of course the litigation mentioned quote:In China, AMSC has filed four cases against Sinovel, all which are winding their way through the Chinese legal system and could take from months to years to resolve. amounted to nothing

Amazing how they talk about scams in buttcoin without mentioning that the whole idea of it is a scam. I can't blame the Chinese, though. I suppose when you have both a lot of RMB you can't get out of the country legally and the acute feeling the bottom is about to fall off the real estate market, buttcoin starts looking pretty attractive. Even if you lose 90% of it to transaction fees, volatility and scammers, you still have shot of getting real money out of it.

Or, gently caress, even swap in China for America because China is literally a better faith actor and on its way to having a stronger economy than the United States is/does for the foreseeable future. quote:Yeah, but you have to understand: Chinese statistics are only reliable if they show something bad.
