The best possible Brexit outcome is a massive, country-ruining fuckup that scares the rest of Europe away from hard-right Euroskepticism forever. Boris 2018.

if the last couple of pages are anything to go by even if corbyn wins overwhelmingly the party will fulfil its destiny by being super bad at the economy in one way or another

The Economy is something Labour historically does pretty well at despite runs on the pound from the Tories' vindictive city mates tbh.

...I genuinely don't understand that. Like, isn't Corbyn the most effective way of driving the country in a socialist direction that the left has had since about the 70s?

corbyn is a social democrat and not even all that left from a perspective that includes actual communist parties, it's unsurprising if some revolutionary socialists don't like him. they don't really go for 'move the country in X direction by winning elections' as a strategy 'establishment puppet' is a bit of a lol though

The best thing about the SPGB is that that getting socialists elected is actually a major part of their espoused strategy:quote:Socialism can not be forced upon people. As its establishment depends upon majority understanding and a global democratic effort to bring it to fruition, we envisage people the world over using their votes to elect socialist candidates to political office. Once enough Socialists had been elected to office this would be a clear signal that a majority wanted socialism. But they reject reform entirely. So they want socialist politicians to be elected, then do nothing and hope that for some reason people will keep voting for more until one day enough have been elected to establish global socialism. e: oh and also they have brilliantly decided that to build a global mass movement, it's best to vet potential members by having them take an exam. Bryter has issued a correction as of 18:03 on Jun 2, 2017 |

I kinda have a similar position with nuclear weapons. I'm for them, but don't believe in nuclear deterrence, and support immediately using them on ourselves.

I love the way the polling industry is just collectively shrugging. They're all getting more or less the same raw data coming in and then their house corrections are converting that into a 15 point spread of estimates.
