1st Practice of the day is green http://racecontrol.indycar.com/ Note that there is no knockout qualifying for both races this weekend. Both qualifying events will feature 2 groups, each with 12min of green flag time with the field set based on those groups. KingShibby fucked around with this message at 15:30 on Jun 2, 2017 |

iospace posted:So, apart from the obvious (front/rear wings), how exactly will the two aero kits differ in ways we can't see, if you know anyway. The underside downforce will be greatly increased, with undertray downforce being very important in reducing aero turbulence. As such cornering speeds will increase, but with less aero wash cars can maneuver in traffic better which should increase passing. Minto Took posted:Horsepower solves everything. In addition to the tunnels, I think the better weight distribution from ditching the rear pods is really gonna help the cars mechanical grip. At a place like phoenix, that means the teams won't have to run as much front wing to get the goddamn car to turn, and can rely on the keel/tunnel more as a total % of downforce. Which means the front end won't be as prone to washing out when running close.

The series has needed a Mexican driver for a long time, and it's amazing how far they've fallen from the CCWS days. 03 you had Mario Domínguez, Michel Jourdain Jr. and Adrian Fernandez winning races. You had events at Mexico City and Funidora Park. Not to mention two Mexican owned teams. I really wish there was some sort of program that Indy/MRTI could invest in to ensure that we could get more North American talent in the series somehow.

While trolling past season threads, I came across a 2012 post by alakath outlining a pretty great idea for a schedule: quote:Oh look, it's alakath's Ideal Schedule for IndyCar. With a bit of a modification for the realities of 2017/2018, this would still be a great season. Bentai fucked around with this message at 19:59 on Jun 2, 2017 |

I still would like an attempt to "save" Milwaukee despite everyone else saying it's dead. It's bullshit AA Marketing, not putting it as the race after Indy and not having Trucks/XFS race there on another weekend killed that drat track. Hindsight is 20/20 but man, they really could have done more to save that weekend. (Run the full MRTI ladder, have USAC run there, etc) Phoenix, Texas, Pocono are good venues that need to be kept on the schedule from a historical standpoint. I think that you can add MIS, and Fontana to that list of tracks with historical significance to the sport (I'm counting Ontario in regards to Fontana's history because of distance, and such).
