Like, a game is so boring that you're on the couch with a bong and it's midnight and you're like gently caress I might as well go to sleep, it seems like that's what Dragon Age wants me to do. Boring pos game.

remember how dragon age's first game was a mechanically then-modern reimagining of Baldur's Gate style infinity engine games from the former kings of the CRPG, and for the sequel they rushed out a really lovely sequel that was just a Z budget Mass Effect action rpg. Whose main legacy was to be a touchstone for people who shouldn't even be allowed to play games, mostly because they jerked off to Hawke and Morrigan porn at some formative point in their stunted lives.

CRPGs are like the kind of micro-heavy pen-and-paper simulators like baldurs gate, icewind dale, pillars of eternity, Fallout 1&2. Basically stuff that doesn't work well on a console

SpaceClown posted:Because its nonesense. A good game is a good game. Your enjoyment shouldnt hinge on whether or not its a carbon copy of the previous game. It's not nonsense. Something can be good without being a good example of the thing it claims to be. It's like what if you like hard SF, and someone says "HEY YOU SHOULD WATCH STAR WARS." You can't deny that it's a good movie, but it isn't what you wanted. If you're in the mood for one thing, someone sells you something else that you might like in other circumstances but which is not the thing you want right now by telling you it is the thing you want. The thing you were sold is good, but you were sort of cheated.

I never played Clear Sky admittedly so my view of the series would probably be a lot different if i had.

I can't get into the Witcher series... solely for the fact I don't like the main dude I'm forced to play as. No character creation and albinos creep me out. Played all three and nope out about six or seven hours in, cuz I have this uneasy feeling that the power fantasy I'm in belongs to some geriatic polack and not me. Can't shake that off.

Yeah I am usually okay with either a character creator and a silent protagonist you can paint yourself onto or a written, set character. For some reason though that dude just doesn't hit me right and he feels worse than Autistic Batman from the new Deus Ex. Is it wrong that the lovingly animated naked girl in the bath at the start immediately made me think "this game isn't for me" because my brain made the association that if it opens with jackoff bait, it's also horrible spergy poo poo? That might not be fair to the game, but it's still an immediate mental association.
