It's also really funny how modern has everything that Wizards deems "unfun" yet people love it while standard is only now recovering from having FNMs not fire despite being the most focus-tested-for-fun format they could make.

I don't think Aetherworks Marvel would be so stupidly out of control if Stony Silence was in the format. Granted that would probably also kill Vehicles; a key mechanic of Kaladesh. But then that didn't stop them from banning Emrakul, premier key card of Eldritch Moon.

It seems like making cards that drained or slowed energy gain would help a bit. Maybe even an effect that would make spent energy damage the player so missed spins would have a more of a downside.

So the top 8's for each GP look something like this to me: Manila: we've got three pretty different variants on Vehicles, with a UW flash deck of all things taking home the trophy Amsterdam: we focus more on BG strategies with delirium winning out right, but we like our control as well as Esper vehicles Omaha: MARVEL! MARVEL MARVEL MARVEL MARVEL MARVEL! (also some other stuff)
