How does this work exactly? Is hearing the car/boat start related to the Jason's ability to sense or something? I often times never hear the motorboat.

I think its based on Sense yea, and different Jasons have more or less powerful versions of Sense. If you have a Jason with low sense(Part 2? can't remember which one has that weakness) then there are areas of the map that are far enough away from the boat where you might not hear it.

This is all anecdotal though, only going off my own experiences and what others have told me.

Any idea how the game determines who will come back as Tommy? I was in a match with some people wanting to do an organized Jason kill. Is it just random?

It seems to be random, but there's some sort of rules it tries to follow. Usually it doesn't happen until at least two people are dead, and not within the first 5 minutes (both of these can be ignored if it decides to ignore them), and sometimes it can seemingly pick people to respawn as Tommy who have already left the match, ensuring Tommy just doesn't spawn at all.

That last thing seems like a legit bug though.

This game's devs seem to want a lot of aspects of the game to feel kind of nebulous and mysterious so I have a feeling that they're not going to explain all the spawning rules for Tommy just like they don't give us hard numbers on Jason's stats or anything.

If people need to rebind keys, it's a thing the devs are working on adding, but also it takes like 2 minutes to download and set up an external program that rebinds your input for the game while leaving other programs alone. There's tons of stuff that does it. I use one just to rebind push-to-talk to a mouse button.

I mean it's not ideal, but generally if you're actually interested in playing the game instead of just making GBS threads on it you can spare a minute or two to set that stuff up.

maybe it's just me but I love using sewerboy Part 7 Jason for the enhanced senses and water speed ain't that bad either--sometimes I use it as a shortcut around the water area to move places faster and juke people loving around near the edge. shame most people in games don't try swimming often (maybe because finding the propeller is sometimes less likely than car battery/gas, plus gas usually will be closer to a car) but man when you catch someone near the water and one-hit KO them, it owns.

The boat is rarely used because the propeller is 3x3 pixels and always spawns under a pile of leaves in a dark area 2 maps over.

I haven't played DBD because lol my computer sucks, but having spent a chunk of time actually playing this and having watched some DBD videos in the past, I feel like this game does the "Slasher vs Victims" idea way better than what I saw from DBD which was a whole lot of uninteresting maps and the hook mechanic thing to kill people which seemed like it would get really, really boring after a while.

I did catch the Honest Trailer for this game yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw7wr4oPQy4 and the lines "Then get abandoned or run over by your teammates" regarding the car had me chuckling, and while I rolled my eyes at the "It's really just DBD" bit, the "You're basically playing hide and seek for adults" is spot on and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Hell, I'd say that's a big part of why I really enjoy the game. I'd rather run around the map for 5-10 minutes trying to solve an objective to try and escape than just find everything and get away right at the start. It's just more fun to sneak around and know Jason is out there somewhere. Unless the Jason player sucks in which case it's kinda poo poo, although with the unbreakable grip, I don't understand how even the worst Jason can't manage to kill at least one counselor.

Boat Chat: The propeller is a motherfucker to find, because it's tiny and as I've complained before, the interaction button window is a bit finicky, like all the hit detection in this game, so unless you happen to be standing at just the right angle to notice it glitter you'll probably totally miss it. Kinda like the ax that spawns in the graveyard, I didn't know it was there until I saw a video of someone picking it up.

I've noticed that most of the games I've played don't have the boat, although I do like trying to go for the boat escape when I can, but basically as soon as Jason knows you're in the water, you're basically totally hosed, unless he's busy murdering the other guy in the boat and you manage to get to shore, which I almost did once.

The keys for some reason are a death sentence for me. Whenever I have the keys Jason seems to smell it and he hunts me down nonstop. I've gotten in the habit of just heading straight towards the nearest car and leaving the keys near the driver side door, because I'm sick of getting killed with them and screwing over the team.

So i went ahead and just bought this game on Xbox and i had a few questions

1.What is even the point of having combat mode? Seems like all Councillors are going to run and Jason is just going to grab kill everybody.

2.Does fear go down over time or are you a shining beacon to Jason all round if you get freaked out?

3.How do you use items? It seem like a few like the weapons are standard LT+RT but then the firecrackers and the med spray are Y

4. I found a little hand radio that went into the upper left corner of the screen, is that the cop radio or tommy radio and how do i use that?

5.How important is noise? Like Jason hunts by essentially echolocation but should i always be sneaking or if there is nothing going on is it okay to sprint around for example?

for any goons that want to add me and play sometime my GT is Delters92

1) Jason wants combat mode to block, counselors want it to dodge. Either way the point is to stop an attack then attack back while they're in a recovery animation.

2) yes and no. Fear goes down based on conditions being met, and goes up based on other conditions being met. If you want your fear to go down, find a buddy and turn on a light and/or hide somewhere using the interact key (in closets, underbeds). Don't find dead bodies, don't wander out alone in the dark, don't sprint, don't look at broken windows/doors, these things all increase fear.

3) items that go in the inventory spaces in the lower left are chosen with left/rigth on the d-pad, and are used with the use key. Some items have specific interactions and you have to chose and hold the interact key, and any repairs will have the repair minigame pop up. The walkie talkie and the map are automatic - map pops up in the menu and shows the location of get away vehicles, players, and Jason if he's currently spotted. walkie lets anyone else with a walkie hear you - Jason can only hear in proximity, and walkies don't transmit voice by proximity, so you won't get overheard by proxy.

4) someone else already said it, but the Tommy Radio is a ham radio on a desk or tabletop with a large microphone next to it. It's always in the house with the red/white antenna, and requires the power to be on to use it. The phone is in the house with the fuse box (which must be repaired first) and hangs on a wall. Does not require power.

5) Noise is how Jason gets an idea of where players area, it's just pings and doesn't change based on distance (although the speed difference between close and far is noticeable) so he won't know exactly where you are or even which general area if there are enough of them between you and him. If he's on you, though, he can track you with noise even if you're out of visual range or blocked by an object, and it will warn him if others are coming to help. There seem to be several factors I've noticed to noise (you can tell when you ping by watching the minimap, there's a little noise bubble that orginates on you and has three ring sizes. When the third ring bursts you've pinged). Speed is the first one (walk/jog/run) and you don't seem to give off noise when crouched. Fear may or may not add to it, but surface you're on does for sure. You make less noise on paths and roads than you do walking on leaves in the forest, for example. If you're super worried about noise, play as AJ or Deb and be able to jog noiselessly pretty much all the time. If you're playing as Adam or Buggzy, then noise is just one more way to get Jason to come over and meet your baseball bat/fire axe/frying pan.

If you go back a few pages there's a list of gamertags for the various platforms, and one the XBOne we have the club "Friday the Goonteenth" as well.

To be fair, in half the days since this game came out, I crashed every game and I now have had perks disappear over a week.
I only saw the propellers spawn near the boat garage or on top of stuff. Had entire games finish without seeing Jason, more often than finding propellers.

- Indoor Floor Spawns: Battery, Gas, Beartraps, Melee weapons (I think)
- Outdoor Floor Spawns: Sticks/Branches
- Fireplace Spawns: Melee Weapons
- On top of tables/desks/shelves: Melee Weapons, Flare Gun, Shotgun, Propeller
- Drawer Spawns: First Aid, Firecrackers, Pocket knives, Keys, Fuse

Special Spawns:

- Packanack Lodge always has a shotgun on the couch in front of the fireplace
- Bathrooms will only spawn first aid sprays
- The barn in Higgin's Haven can spawn a shotgun on the floor
- Jason's Cabin of course always has the sweater
