The papers have the kind of power the broadcast media in the US does, if I understand the US right. If nothing else, they set the debate; if the Sun and Mail lead with "JIHADI REFUGEES STEALING BIKES", the BBC and ITV will go with "Are refugees joining ISIS to steal bikes?".

The big cats were incredibly unreliable, and often ergonomically terrible. And remember, for all the "you'd be safer in a panther!" stuff... You really wouldn't. There's only side where a battalion's taking thirty casualties a day from marauding P-47s while on march, or getting rolling bombardments of heavy artillery as a massive wave of enemy soldiers keeps rolling up the line in the late war period and it's sure as hell not the allies.

So what happens when May doesnt grt her majority, or loses seats. Obviously the faith in the government will capitulate. So will we see a second election if there is a no confidence

I feel like the public are probably a bit sick of voting for things at this point, so I dunno how awkward the balance of power situation would have to be to call for another one right away.

So will we see a second election if there is a no confidence Because I don't want to suffer from the hope I'm looking at the most interesting outcomes: 1) Tories fall to around 300 seats, Labour on around 260-270, SNP in the 60 range. This will give Labour enough for a minority government with support from the SNP. 2) Tories get around 310-320 seats, Labour drop below 260. This will probably result in a Tory minority government. May called this election to give her a mandate to lead Brexit negotiations so this would be a big blow (though a somewhat positive result). I'm not sure how she would stay on in this scenario, nor how the government would be able to push ahead with their plans without massive support from the right wing of the Labour party. Her leadership would be challenged and a second election would be likely if the Lib Dems won't support them. 3) Tory majority, burn down the country.

Extreme0 posted:Dosen't matter since PR isn't a thing so no matter how many votes he gets in total. If most constituencies go Tory. Labour is hosed. That's not how MRP works. Simply put, they model the assocations between (in this case) voting intention and demographic factors, then they back compute the seat proportions by correcting for the numbers of each demographic group in the seat. Bigger sample size should just make the correlational estimates more robust. They're not publishing their full methodology/regression equation ect, so it's difficult to see exactly whether what they're doing is reasonable from a modelling perspective (have they got a constituency level effect modelled for example), but MRP doesn't suffer from the fact that we don't have PR. They have constituency level estimates.
