thehappyprince posted:probably a fair bit. it was the 4th most watched video on the bbc site the day after. Complaints to the BBC trust take forever to be processed and always end up having an effect well after the impact of the original piece has already been felt, the BBC has no need to actually make a retraction upon their networks. Complaints to the BBC themselves never get anywhere as the companies response is always to be defensive of its own content so is completely pointless.

Getting off direct election chat for a moment, can I start a conversation about tax reform ideas? This will never happen unless Corbyn himself stood and won in 326 seats across the UK, so it's hypothetical at best, but here we go: What if the tax bandings, and personal allowance, were based on the average income? E.g. Personal Allowance was 1/2 of the average Basic Rate is anything between 1/2 the average and 3x Average Higher rate is anything between 3x and 8x average Additional Rate is anything earned beyond 8x Then add one further banding for the super wealthy, over 15x average or something. Obviously the numbers would need firmed up, and the specific amounts that equalled could maybe be set following a general election, so it's somewhat stable for a few years, but then there would be some incentive for the wealthy to raise the average income to lower their own tax burden. Obviously, corporations would min-max the numbers on this, and work out a sweet spot where their board get the best wage for the best salary cost across the company etc etc, but that can't end up in a worse place than we are right now, can it? (NB. Assuming we keep a minimum wage.)
