Yeah. The British public are incredibly susceptible to simple narratives about complex issues, and when you confront them on this they'll tend to just ignore you completely.

I am amazed how many people can look at the Tories talking about 'tough decisions' on spending cuts and about the deficit, then moving on to talk about lowering taxes and not see the whole thing as an ideology rather than a necessity.

Its also a vote for "more of the same", as if the last 7 years have been fun and games for everyone. Then again, we are talking about a country that wants a leader who is willing to make the entire human species extinct.

If this is true and they literally changed their methodology for their final poll it's pretty weird. Do they have a legitimate reason for doing so, because 'our polls don't look the others and we're getting a bit worried' seems a possibility.

Corbyn's speech in Islington tonight actually made me cry. I was all sanguine about him maybe shrinking the Tory majority and losing but now I'm seriously down about how much this country is hosed by the grey and the hateful and the stupid.

They were a massive, massive outlier. Yougov were predicting hung whilst pretty much everyone else was suggesting a majority of 50-120

That's absolutely what it was. They also hedge massively in the post about their MRP model they put up today. Until now they've acted like they were incredible confident in it, now it's "still being tested".

They did seem to be distancing themselves from it pretty massively. Especially by banging on about the confidence intervals and avoiding mentioning that Labour losing seats and the Tories gaining more than 4 would be outside even their huge margin of error.

Definitely worth noting that now they've ended up in the enviable position of having a model which predicts a hung parliament and a poll that predicts a Tory majority, meaning they can't really be wrong.

Yeah whether it'll be right or not they do detail the "minor" changes they made to their last poll here.

quote:

The first is that rather than asking people which party they’d vote for, we showed respondents a list of the people actually standing in their constituency and asked which one they would vote for. Hopefully this will help pick up any tactical vote considerations and remove any issue of people saying they would vote UKIP or Green in seats where UKIP or the Greens are not actually standing.

Secondly we have reallocated those respondents who say don’t know, but who also say they are very likely to vote (voters who my colleague Adam McDonnell described earlier in the campaign as “true undecided”). We assume uncertain voters who say they “don’t know” at this stage won’t actually vote, but those who say they are 8+/10 certain to vote we have reallocated back to the party they voted for in 2015.

So I guess if you felt optimistic with the past couple YouGov polls then you should probably feel the same now, like Pissflaps (!) said.

Oh, poppycock! Female bandits?

This is amazing.

quote:

Look – Corbyn is definitely a multi-racialist, pro-human being leftist. But he is also an old school type leftist and thus ANTI-GLOBALISM.

And sorry to break the rough news – but a multi-racialist, pro-human being leftist against globalism is better than a multi-racialist, pro-human being “Tory” for globalism.

Just look at this on the geo-political scale here.

Theresa is:

Anti-Russia
Pro-Israel
Pro-Saudi
Pro-international free trade
Pro-EU
Female

Jeremy is:

Not even concerned about Russia, would probably just be cool with Putin
Anti-Israel
Anti-Saudi
Anti-international free trade
At least less pro-EU than Theresa
Male

Honestly, if you look at this from just a basic cost-benefit analysis, I don’t even understand how we are having this discussion.

And then it really goes off the deep end:

quote:

The Jews have been freaking out about this guy forever.

They really, really hate him.

He is genuinely against Israel. He is seriously against this whole Jewish-run Sunni Islamist terrorist agenda in the Middle East.

What's this meant to be? Do they really think that the Jews are somehow instigating Islamist terrorism (other than indirectly of course, via the consequences of Israeli foreign policy)?
