People already in the queue can vote, newcomers are turned away.

If the disabilty living allowance was raised it wouldn't be fair on the ones who killed themselves when it was cut.
That first one is actually true though. We shouldn't have a two tier system for Europe and quite another for Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Ideally the policy should be overall fairer for all rather than telling everyone to gently caress off or privileging one.
A better 'past bitterness' analogy might be "If we make it easier for non-EU nationals to move here that's not fair on those that had to endure hours of immigration questioning."

Rovert ended up here because he's literally banned on every other wrestling related forum on the internet.

Anyone with an RXT avatar got them because they made fun of him over the space of one weekend, when some random mystery poster bought something like 40 av's all at once. There's like 6 variations of them.

Someone just started buying them for people at random in a thread where rovert was getting poo poo on a few years ago. There's a couple of different colours, I've just never bothered changing it.

Edit: I'm pretty sure I didn't make fun of him so I think the criteria was just "be in the thread that's making GBS threads on him"

They can join together as a coalition (as happened in 2010) or one of the parties can attempt to govern as a minority and rely on making ad-hoc deals with other parties so they can get stuff done and not lose the confidence of parliament.

I get that, it just doesn't make any sense as an argument against free movement. Also it was at the front of mind today since my *in Tim Farron Voice* Indian Friend at work said he wouldn't vote for Corbyn on the grounds that he might still allow free movement for Eurpeans while non-Europeans like him had to pay through the nose.

Tory society today is about getting people to participate in such a high stakes game through mortages/investments/tuinion fees/visa fees etc that they become trapped in the status quo by their own fear of change, and that's heartbreaking.

Hung parliament. Everyone scrambles trying to form a coalition or confidence and supply alliance that can form a government with the confidence of the House. Chaos reigns.

quote:

Does that mean the need to form a coalition government?
Not necessarily, you can form a minority government if you have the confidence of a majority of the House, but it's unstable.

quote:

And are the SNP (as the biggest third party, from what I can tell) most likely to side with Labour in that case, or is that not relevant at all?
They'd be wiped out if they sided with Tories. They'd also suffer if they went into a formal coalition with Labour. Most likely is a confidence and supply on the condition of passing IndyRef 2 for Scotland.

well they don't in the strictest sense "have" to. in theory, if say three totally diametrically opposed parties got an equal number of seats and were totally incompatible one would try to form a government, two would vote no confidence, we'd have another election.

in a practical sense though, no one with enough seats to form at least part of a government wants to stay out of government
