ShaneMacGowansTeeth posted:Not definite as none of the 650 seats have declared yet. But, May called the election to increase her slim majority so she could effectively cancel out any rebels over Brexit. Unless she outperforms the exit poll, which has been relatively close since 1992, she will have failed in this Even if she's got a +1 majority, she'll be dependent on every single MP to vote the line. It'll be an absolutely idiotic government. Ken Clarke could literally stop Brexit alone. I'm dying.

Hoops posted:I can not believe how badly May has done. She was supposed to get a 100 seat majority. It's not just how badly May did, people up and down the country have been working our arses off pounding pavements and getting people to the polls. So much work by so many people, the idea that it could have actually beaten the millionaire donors and propaganda press, it's fantastic.

Tesseraction posted:Just before we get too excited I was reading on the BBC news poll about the projections, is that the calculation is done by comparing the exit-poll samples to the exit-polls samples from last election, and then using the difference to identify likely result trends, which would suggest whatever caused the poll to understimate Tory vote last time would already be taken into account but who knows how it'll actually end up considering it's all just samples. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2017-40104373#methodology Effectively, to get the results the Exit poll must be showing less tory votes, more labour votes, more lib dem votes, and less SNP votes than the last exit poll in 2015.

This is the first time I can remember that an exit poll has come out and no party's politicians are happy with it. Can anyone get an even slightly plausible coalition out of the exit poll numbers? Some back of an envelope maths suggest that even CON+UU+DUP+UKIP(0?) might only hit ~325. Who else could they get? Could any of those four jump ship to a progressive alliance?
