Gonzo McFee posted:Who else has got that slavery apologist's post when Corbyn won the Labour leadership election on standby so we can post it nonstop when the Boy Corbyn is PM. quote:Congratulations! I'm glad that Corbyn has won. It represents a great opportunity. If there's one thing that lefties hate more than splitters it's democracy but with Corbyn in charge the Left now have no excuses to fall back on and no Establishment conspiracy to blame - defeat will entirely be on themselves. I might be concerned that Corbynite blinding aggression and deafening volume would override sense if this was shortly before the next General Election but as it stands 4 1/2 years is plenty of time for the Corbynites to drive themselves into the ground. If Corbyn loses in 2020 then left-wing politics will be fully discredited, the Blairite post-GE claim that British elections are won in the centre will be definitvely proven, and the socialist cancer consuming the country will go into remission for another generation.

qhat posted:Labour's share is barely changing, the only things that are changing are the tories are gaining support and the SNP is hemorrhaging it. SNP > Lab alongside Lab > Tory also produces this result. This is consistent with rUK results, and the Tory increases in 2016 and local elections. There are very few SNP/Tory swing voters in urban seats.

Last week I wrote a big post about how the route to a Labour government was going to be through Tory seats with a majority of about 4,000 and a UKIP vote larger than the majority that was going to be well and truly up for grabs. About ten minutes ago Laura Kuenssberg said that she's heard that Labour people in Pudsey (maj 4051, UKIP 4600) and Broxtowe (maj 4287, UKIP 5674) think they might have taken them. This is very, very, very good news, yo.

Gonzo McFee posted:If Corbyn's Labour becomes the dominant Labour faction then I'm glad to sacrifice it. Same. I've voted SNP because I've felt like they've been the only viable option even slightly left of centre. I'd be happy to trade them in for the kind of Labour party my dad was always so happy to support, as opposed to the BlairitesI've grown up with.

Kegluneq posted:This is a distressingly bad analogy but the May juggernaut seems to have been stopped more easily than the Martians. True, but I loving love that song. However, Corbyn, like the Thunderchild, is never going to win the war, but carries our desperate hopes, speeds on, takes no loving prisoners and even takes a few of them down with it.
