Labour are not just gaining seats, they're increasing their majorities in Labour marginals. If there's another election in the near future they're gonna be starting from a much better base.

Aw Labour just short of PC in Arfon. American here: Is any other party (SNP, PC, etc) winning acceptable so long as its not Tories/DUP?

The Lib Dems big problem is that the party as a whole doesn't really stand for anything. They're basically entirely supported by protest votes

SamuraiFoochs posted:I am genuinely confused, why are LibDems bad in the UK? Lib Dems under Nick "Gone hosed it" Clegg formed a coalition with pigfucker extraordinaire "dodgy" Dave Cameron, and his Conservative Bullingdon Club pals in an effort to live out his boyhood dream of being a Conservative MP. Net result, no one likes the Lib Dems anymore.

Perfect explanation. Many thanks. Also I am getting vicarious joy because our country is irrevocably hosed for at LEAST the next several years, thank you all for making me feel welcome.

SamuraiFoochs posted:I am genuinely confused, why are LibDems bad in the UK? They used to be a fairly safe middle of the road party, no real chance of winning but you could feel fairly good about yourself by voting for them Then the first tiny sniff of power and they jumped in bed with the cunts, principles be damned Now they're just taking votes away from Labour which is essentially a tory vote

SamuraiFoochs posted:I am genuinely confused, why are LibDems bad in the UK? Their policies aren't, but many people don't trust them due to them entering a coalition with the tories and voting along with them on tuition fee increases. Plus the first past the post system means that, with them being a smaller relatively progressive party, they can split the progressive vote.

Based on my outsider super accurate analysis of this election campaign: hung parliament resulting in another election is good, because the longer voters have to look at Teresa May's face, the worse the conservatives will do
