Kate Hoey, one of the most prominent pro-leave Labour MPs, has won again in Vauxhall with a hefty majority of more than 20,000. She won with 31,522 votes, pushing her Lib Dem challenger, George Turner, into a distant second on 11,326. Turnout was 67%.

Pretty much, I'm in a safe Labour seat, but I've seen a shitload of people I know who have never voted go out and vote for Corbyn today. Even if it isn't a Labour victory, it's certainly a good base for the future.

Not that it helps much tonight but I don't think the Tory gains in Scotland are permanent. I think anxiety about an IndyRef2 either coming directly from the SNP or from a Labour government propped up by the SNP has driven support for the Tories this time. If Scot Lab can get their act together and Labour is established as a credible party again then alot of that support will flow away towards Labour or other parties. Ruth Davidson has certainly done a hell of a job detoxifying the Tory brand in Scotland though. Ironically something that could only have happened with devolution.

spiderbot posted:Surely there must be a limit on these? No, a recount can be asked for under a couple of circumstances (something like margin less than amount of spoiled ballots or absolute margin under .1% or something, too drunk to remember) and until a recount takes it out of those circumstances or people stop asking for them then they just carry on.

When the Labour coup was going on and I wrote to her the reply was a firm support for Corbyn and reassurance that she wasn't going to vote no confidence.

It's ridiculously fast moving and the thread has no limit so it just scrolls forever and is miles long already and it's mostly predictable poo poo like UK is done, why are they all voting to get blown by mudslimes up etc etc, the usual vile poo poo. Nothing really worth the effort of screengrabbing. A lot of them are gunning for Corbyn though "ironically" - which is how their hard-right turn started years ago, so who knows if any of them actually believe in anything and half of them are probably bots anyway. Have a look at it though, it isn't anything you havent seen before.
