If you look at the insane way the voting intentions changed during this election campaign it's depressing to think what could have been achieved had we had 1 or 2 more weeks of campaigning

My few tankie friends are all pro-Corbyn. Are there really people still holding out for someone even more leftist before supporting Labour?

It's not that they'll be anti-Corbyn, the danger is that they'll fail to understand the reasons for Labour outperforming expectations. Whether it's tankies insisting that Corbyn should embrace the Stop The War types or neoliberals insisting that the way to a governing majority is to embrace 'fiscal discipline'. Corbyn won(well, "won") by eschewing both Blairite market worship and fringe left extremism.

Greatest Jeremy hits. This has been a bang-up campaign and I am frustrated it's been too expensive for me to take part in properly. At least I managed to convert/convince a few people in my own circle and family.

Yeah, he concentrated purely on old fashioned core Labour values which it turns out are actually a pretty easy sell.

The other story that's really not being reported by anyone (although it will come up in future I'm sure) that is possibly even more relevant for the Blairites is just how quickly Labour managed to raise funds for this election. The old wisdom is that a snap election would benefit the Tories with their deep-pocketed corporate donors (especially as most of them had abandoned Labour under Corbyn) and yet they managed to get 3 million quid in individual donations over the election, on top of the fairly rude health their finances were in because of the new membership Corbyn bought into the party.

Mind you we can't overstate just how badly the Tories hosed their campaign. They won't do that again. They'll triangulate to a superficially centrist position (and if they end up nicking some of Labours manifesto like they did with energy price caps that would be loving huuuuuge) and I'm sure Chukka et. al. will use that as an excuse to slip in some immigration poo poo or something to the next manifesto.

If that's the way he's willing to compromise with the PLP i.e. a solid anti austerity agenda with consultations with the membership/PLP for more radical ideas I'm ecstatic.

Forcing the conservatives left by any amount is a good thing as we've still got 20 years of old people voting for them no matter what they say and do.
