It certainly looks like it. Both Rupert Murdoch and Tony Blair have got to be depressed as gently caress right now.

Huh, just defended Diane Abbott against lovely accusations of racism on another board and found out that quite a few of the posters on there hold surprisingly racist views, so that was 'nice'. Ms Abbott seems to have the ability to set anyone off.

Ok, thanks. I thought the PM was voted by a simple majority because it's so weird to me that a system would outright acknowledge political parties exist. I've been trying to make up for beign a hermit the past decade or so, but every couple of months I find out that the most powerful elected position in Australia is actually the royal sheepshearer or something equally strange.

For anyone who's trying to say Corbyn lost: can you really argue Labour's position is worse now than it was when he took the leadership? Back then we were facing a comfortable Tory majority until 2020. Now we have an extremely weak coalition that will almost certainly not last that long.

Okay, I'm all ears: what's your take on it? I mean, I'd rather have a dialogue with people of differing views to me than just insist either person is flat-out wrong.

In a general sense, those of us who gave up on Labour did so in sorrow rather than anger. The jam man has proved what Labour can do if it has principles: Scottish Labour sadly lags behind on this, and that's a lot of why it's the Tories and not them humping us right now. The SNP amusingly has been driven out of its own heartlands and into what was once Labour's.

Labour's campaign up here hasn't been Corbyn's: it's been a competition with the Tories over who's more anti - SNP. Just like New Labour proved, you can't out Tory the Tories.

Corbyn is unironically the greatest threat to Scottish nationalism because he could make the UK not poo poo. Run on that and not 'SNP bad' and tbh you could've wiped the floor with us.

I've had to revisit my opinion on Diane Abbott after seeing her stunning result in her constituency and the sheer quantity and obscenity of the racist and sexist abuse she puts up with. I hope she's making a list and checking it twice for when she's home secretary.

(Would be nice if she could avoid being embarrassing in interviews though, come on)

After being 20 points down, in 2 months where he faced vile, concentrated and outright lying attacks from the Tories and the media, he managed to get nearly 30 more seats, improved his personal popularity immensely and got the young to turn out in droves to vote. When the spotlight turned on him, he shone like the brightest diamond in a sea of muck.

Okay, yeah. That makes plenty of sense. I still reckon that if the SNP hadn't run on such a divisive platform we might not have been in a position whereby opposition parties could get away with campaigning on 'SNP bad' rather than concrete policy, but it's all water under the bridge now; Sturgeon has admitted Indeyref#2 influenced what went down in Scotland last night.

Scottish Labour are in a pretty lamentable position (I still voted for 'em, though...) but it's kind of a moot point for me, at this juncture: I'm moving south of the border for work later in the year. I really hope that Scottish Labour recovers its credibility and becomes a meaningful asset to the jam man.
