I said it before and I'll say it again, the least damaging thing the Tories could do is go "loving have it then" and force Corbyn to be PM. Nobody is going through Brexit without taking a hit, and any deal the Tories make to hold power is just going to hurt them AND leave them in power for negotiations they'll fail to get a good deal from.

why do you guys keep saying Tories/DUP would be a majority of 1? They have 328 seats combined compared to 322 for everyone else. That's a majority of 6 and it's really a working pmajority of 13 because of Sinn Fein.

Sturgeon seem to be considering seriously rowing back on indyref2, if her line about 'listening to the voters' is anything to go by. Trouble is if they don't have independence, they become a party of rather boring centrists. And those haven't done very well recently.

Came across my first "Corbyn lost the election so he should resign" in the wild today. Apparently the election was a complete open goal, and if Labour can't win when it's so incredibly easy then they should just give up. Or something. It was very odd.

I went to bed last night fully expecting the early swing for Labour to be crushed by the Tories as the night went on. Woke up this morning to find that it really had gone that badly for May, I only wish Rudd had been knocked out too but I guess you can't have everything. Bless you, Jezza, you glorious, jam-making bastard  .

Wait, so May claimed they had a working coalition (or at least the promise of one) before she went to see the Queen, and now the DUP are saying that no such thing exists? Either they've played her like a fiddle and will now blackmail the Tories for every last concession they can get, or she blatantly lied and the whole thing will fall apart in short order. loving

This will only strengthen the DUP. They just had their best election ever and defied the "declining unionism" narrative and now have the Tories over a barrel to pull concessions out of them, putting them in the strongest position Unionisms been at in Westminster since the 70s. This will only cement their vote as the preeminent party of Unionism and there is no effective challenger to them in most constituencies

If a single tory backbencher voted against the party line, it'd go to 327 - 323, if 3 do then it'll be 325 - 325, a stalemate. Sinn Fein are always 7 abstains. So it's 328 - 315, so if 7 tories rebel then it's 321-322.

Being surrounded by tories at work is the worst. They keep going 'but where's the money going to come from?' and 'haha those stupid kids must be crying about the coalition news', poo poo like that. I'm not the type who talks politics at work so I've stayed quiet. That said someone did ask me what I thought about May as a person and not a politician so I linked them all the articles on Yarl's Wood I could find
