There are just so many upsides to what happened. One of the biggest is going to be Labour MPs realising that courting the youth vote can work, and you actually don't need to fear negative headlines from the Mail and the Sun. Weakening the tabloid hold over politics and focusing minds on the young is going to be huge.

I don't usually give a poo poo about exchange rates as any kind of indicator, but I like that the FX markets really didn't react all that much. Given the confidence rally after the election was called it's funny that May managed to come across as such a complete lunatic that even the ultimate mercenary opinion seems to be that weak instability isn't any worse than her being in complete control.

Also I cocked it up, seaxes are single edged normally.

Old tories will increasingly die out and the party has consistently legislated to benefit old people at the expense of the young. It's going to be a very hard sell to win around the generation that just swung this election, especially as they can't rely on cold war indoctrination to scaremonger some votes. Also, I think New Labour's early policy of increasing access to higher education has come to fruition, just not in the way they maybe expected.

How much turnover was there in the anti-Corbyn elements of the PLP? It's one thing to show your plan for the party will yield results, but other than craven political opportunism, is he going to be spending the time until the next election pushing them uphill or did he expand his support base?
