But there's always 1% of assholes who will play an anti-catholic song while outside a catholic church, or try to block them marching. This farmer bigot assholeness will be in NI's genetic pool for eons.

For real though: I'm actually happy about this outcome because it's shining a spotlight on something that's been ignored for a year since the referendum: just how bad any form of Brexit might be for Northern Ireland peace and the Good Friday agreement. It's been a long-rear end road and it still has problems but Good Friday's pulled off the seemingly impossible and brought peace to NI. The entire agreement hinges heavily on an EU open border with Ireland, though (as it's one of the only things that placates the Irish Republicans, free business and travel access to the rest of Eire), and if that gets messed up then the whole thing is in danger of collapsing. If London gives anything like a drat about peace in Ireland then Brexit should not happen, full stop. I really hope May and the Tories in general get the heat turned up on them over this (and frankly I hope Corbyn, too, acknowledges this and lays out that even if some form of Brexit "must" happen, every single step will be taken to keep Good Friday intact).

Tory backbenchers now putting the boot in on the radio. Openly saying she won't last six months and this is just a transition government at best. So that whole having an election thing to try and minimise the power and influence of backbenchers went well.

Back when I was in halls of residence at Glasgow Uni, there was an Orange march going past in the street and and all the English students were in the kitchen saying how it was funny they were all dressed up like smarties and how the kids all looked so cute.  Burst their bubble a bit when I told them that they'd be horribly beaten if they tried to cross the march.

A friend and I gave a ~60-year-old DUP voter a lift home from the pub one night and he proceeded to tell us how he doesn't buy Domino's pizza because they originated from the Dominican Republic and send a percentage of their profits directly to the Pope, who he's "not a big fan of" ulster

It's all coming up Milhouse for Corbyn. It's looking like he'll basically have his pick of MPs for shadow cabinet, with an anonymous MP saying 'most people would probably serve now' and that he could 'put together a team of all the talents if he wanted to'. An aide did say that he would remember MPs who had been loyal to him though. Anyone got any predictions/hopes? I'm confident Diane Abbott will be moved to a less taxing cabinet position. Ed Miliband, Lisa Nandy, Clive Lewis I'd be happy to see back. Possibly even Yvette Cooper or Chuku Umunna, although they'd be on a tight leash. The likes of Hilary Benn can get tae gently caress though.

The orange order is not going away. The 12th is not going away. The vast majority of 12th marches are perfectly peaceful and it is possible to negotiate a peaceful coexistance between catholic communities and loyal orders - there's still a 12th in Donegal post partition and people consider it a bit of local colour and it passes peacefully, the apprentice boys of Derry have reached an accommodation with the city in recent years and events have passed of very peacefully recently (in so much that the overwhelmingly nationalist council invited them to participate in the annual St Patrick's parade and they politely declined. Politely) Calling for the death of the OO is exactly what breeds DUP voters who believe there's a conspiracy to destroy Protestant identity
