One of the weirdnesses of Stormont is that it's designed to insure power sharing between the Unionists and Republicans. Having the DUP in power while that happens would be cassus loving belli.

Yeah, the impact of a MAYDUP government on power sharing has the potential to be really, really bad. The only resolution I can see is for May to appoint a NI secretary from outside the Conservative party so they can be seen as independent, but even if she were willing to eat that crow it's going to be a tough job to recruit for.
