A swing in the overall popular vote doesn't necessarily translate to a win though anyway because it could just be in seats they already hold, right?

Looking at the seat changes makes a man smile. The casualties would include IDS, Theresa Villiers, Justine Greening, Amber Rudd, Anna Soubry, Stephen Crabb and Zac Goldsmith.

nothing to seehere posted:That's a 9% swing I think? Which, seat wise, would probably give Corbyn a majority. Plus they'd have excellent and extremely recent information to use for tactical purposes - they could endorse the LDs in Richmond Park in exchange for an endorsement in Southampton Itchen, for example.

Also please don't have another election for a few weeks or so at least because first all the Scottish parties that aren't the Tories need to figure out how not to kick themselves in the teeth repeatedly whenever there's an election on

What's the minimum amount of notice you have to give for an election, anyway? I'm up for having one this Thursday if everyone's game.

the fuckin nutjobs have the tories by the short hairs and it's amazing. they'll demand something that will piss some significant fraction of the tories off, probably related to LBGT rights or women, and either refuse to stave off the immediate election or wind up obliterated at their (most likely soon) next, Ruth particularly as it will include the Scottish Parliament elections a DUP fuckup will get in the papers saying something abhorrent on a bi-weekly basis for as long as this nonsense parade goes on

I wonder if they released 'Yeah DUP has totally agreed we're all ready now' to try to get DUP to agree. That seems stupid enough for May, trying to make something fait accompli.

After reading a day's worth of posts in a couple of hours I would like to make a couple of points: On the subject of Ian Hislop; he usually refuses to talk about his political opinions, but in about 2009 he did a couple of interviews where he said he might support the notional "Vince Cable for Treasurer Party". We can expect him to be no friend of Jeremy Corbyn (which is as it should be) because one of the manifesto commitments was to implement the recommendations of the Leveson Report and Hislop is utterly and totally opposed to them for intellectually justifiable reasons. communism bitch posted:DWP fit-for-work assessments Never, ever, ever, ever, ever forget that ESA and the Work Capability Assessment (complete with Atos contract) were introduced by New Labour in 2008, and the Tories then gleefully seized on the system and principles set up by New Labour. It is a New Labour idea. (Another manifesto commitment was to abolish the WCA.)
