Black Thursday was a disaster, plain and simple.
We lost too many good people, too many planes.
We can't let that kind of tragedy happen again.

And then Victory or Death at the end, quality storytelling

Meatoberfest is in full swing.

The inflated total stat values on Celestial is strong in PvP for classes like Guardian and Elementalist who have good access to incidental conditions and healing, especially with lots of Might stacks since you double dip it with hybrid damage setups. It was strong enough in general that they had to take it out of sPvP because it was loving everything up, along with all the 'more defensive stats than not' amulets.

You have to if you want an HoT legendary. Also, yeah, precursor crafting is an expensive trap. Anet calculated how much materials it takes to craft them based on how much each precursor was selling for at the time, so the requirements are all over the place instead of being standardized in a sensible way. Also the second collection can go gently caress itself, it's just a giant mat sink that adds nothing worthwhile to the process.

(also their solution to "precursors are too expensive" was "precursors are just as expensive only now they're giant material sinks too", because actually making them cheaper would make the TP barons go e-flaccid so they couldn't possibly do that).

This reminds me I should put together a Celestial set for my Elementalist in WvW. Maybe not ideal for an auramancer build but probably pretty fun to roll with.

I mean I knew they purposely made them expensive so they'd be similar to TP prices but it's hilarious to me that they based the collections on the prices at the time instead of just standardizing the prices or anything, basically defeating the purpose of having precursor crafting in the first place

Meatoberfest is in full swing.
The crafting material volumes follow a rough tiering based on handedness (2h > onehand > offhand) but some of the costs are out of whack because of whatever adjustments to match the values at the time, and how things have changed in value since, e.g. you can probably blame Leaf of Kudzu and The Lover's outstanding crafting costs on t5 leather and wood shooting up in price with Heart of Thorns. But even then the best profit margins are on the popular/expensive precursors.

The real annoying part is they also tried to make the ~legendary journey~ feel special with all the collections, so the sudden 'gently caress you pay me' parts feel odd, where the post-Colin HoT precursors are more honest.

Yeah this is me. I've been playing in GW2Efficiency (thanks OP) and GW2BLTC and it looks like there are a handful it's still worth doing the collection for, just not the ones my scrapper can use. Think I'll focus on leveling crafting and getting ascended armor so atari teenager doesn't hate me and then see what's what about cool skins.

Semi-related, anyone else have a hard time parting with gold once you've massed some up? I'm sitting on several hundred gold and keep thinking "but you might need it later" any time I start to look at an expensive proposition like ascended crafting.

Maybe I'm just a big dumb idiot though!

Just do ascended crafting for your main character to get them geared for fractals/raids/high end PvE content.

Also, this 'baby raid' group can also serve as a fractal group.

If you're looking for a good long-term investment you can buy the cash shop weapon skins a couple weeks after release and sit on them.

I'm sure you know this but it's a frequent trap for Americans that don't know time zones very well. EST is not the same as EDT.

Hey atari, should I just focus on the first two wings or so as far as reading up on boss strats goes?

Also, for scrapper - recommended builds are a zerker rifle build and a viper condi build. I know the condi build is a bit more complicated, but what do other scrappers/knowledgeable goons recommend as far as fun/usefulness goes? I'm leaning viper condi but want some pre-decision validation.

I'd recommend reading up on Vale Guardian, Slothasor and maybe Escort . These are the first bosses of wing 1-3 respectively. If you want to focus on just two I'd say VG and Sloth.

Wing 4 is considered to be the easiest (up to the final boss at least) but isn't too great for a group just getting into raids in my opinion (although I think the third boss Samarog would also be a nice boss for beginners).

Slothasor is a mechanics shitstorm for new raiders. Start with W4, seriously, it is the easiest. It's much easier to have a druid kite to draw the jade bullet things than it is to teach someone how to properly tank and kite VG.

Outdated source. Since May 16th Viper Daredevil is tearing poo poo apart, doesn't rely on stationary targets, and is much, much easier to play than condi Engi. Luckily the gear is the same so one could swap to try things out.
