Known Lecher posted:I once bought a bag of good-quality, imported Thai jasmine rice. You would have thought I was serving bowls of steamed dog turds from the reaction of the Chinese I served it to. They all reluctantly picked at it while complaining extensively that it wasn't nearly as good as their precious Chinar's Own Dongbei rice from the northeast. No doubt they happily wolfed down whatever crap came with their 9 RMB lunch the next day though. Rice nationalism is pretty funny. I remember an old guy telling me how he doesn't go to cheap gyudon restaurant X because they use Chinese rice. Cheap gyudon restaurant Y, though, was delicious because they used Japanese rice. I'll let you guess as to how similar the two places taste.

The nationalism is dumb, but given how efficiently rice concentrates soil/water pollution I also do not eat Chinese rice if at all possible. I don't blame anyone for avoiding it. Chinese people also buy all imported if they can afford it.

I get a good laugh at all those health food stores selling "USA Grown" brown rice as if it's something healthier while they're pedalling a product loaded up with arsenic. quote:All types of rice (except sushi and quick cooking) with a label indicating that it’s from Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas or just from the U.S. had the highest levels of inorganic arsenic in our tests. quote:Brown rice has 80 percent more inorganic arsenic on average than white rice of the same type. http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/magazine/2015/01/how-much-arsenic-is-in-your-rice/index.htm

Rice on the farm is real good, I've had it in Korea. Japan's extreme, pervasive autism also helps with quality of ingredients.

I knew neither of those things, thanks buddy I prefer to buy brown rice and non-Chinese rice so this is relevant to me I also avoid US eggs and beef and dairy if I can British milk, Danish eggs, Aussie meat It probably doesnt actually matter but I feel happier for doing it PS I not a sperglord about this, I still eat at local places, and family relatives' houses without questioning everything on the table, but it's daily lifestyle that kills you, be that beer or drugs or smoking or Saturated Fats or lack of exercise or soil cadmium or growth hormones or other fun things, not what you do once in a while

The workshop’s yard was covered in piles of used medical supplies, with liquid residue from IV bags leaking onto the ground and syringes caked in dried blood. There was also a stench in the air, the report said. of course it's hunan
