Marching Powder is objectively the worst poster known. He also needs to learn how a keyboard works.

Gove looks like some sort of creepy wooden puppet prop from a 1980's low budget B-movie that somehow got possessed through black magic by the soul of a snivelling cretin. I'd never be able to take him seriously if I had to work with him.

What exactly does "shoot to kill" mean?

Right now, under the law, any cop shooting someone would have to justify it under the same kind of reasoning a member of public would have to make a lawful killing- that they believed there was a serious threat to themselves or others e.t.c- such as a bunch of terrorists running round stabbing people.

Of course with the rozzers being entirely corrupt, its not like that de facto, but de jure it's reasonably straight and simple. Cops can't be told to kill someone, it has to be their choice based on the circumstances.

"Shoot to kill" essentially would allow cops to murder at will and just point to orders and use the threat of terrorism to obscure complaint- and they already don't seem to have problems with getting away with it.

I wonder how many people actually believe there is some kind of extant "shoot to kill" legislation in force that corbyn wants to remove, wouldn't be surprised if it was at least a third of the populace :smith:

That's how I assumed it worked because that's basically how it has to work under any sane system because use of firearms would depend on the individual person and the individual situation. Just cos the armed cops are out still means they have to figure out if it's safe for the public for them to shoot people.

It's just really hard to watch anyone discuss that policy because they all sound like complete idiots who haven't bothered to do even half a minute's research on the subject and are just repeating nonsense phrases that don't make any sense.

Yeah, I may be just an American, but my general impression is if the Tories had anyone better (read: approaching competent while still being stupid enough to want to captain a sinking ship) they'd have already tossed them the PM job when pig fucker quit.

Yeah iirc you get a lump sum equivalent to like a month's wages for each year you served or something like that, with maximum of £15k or something.

Lol if there are tories who only got in in 2015 and lost their seats. Just lmao.

if you stand for reelection and fail, you get a generous 'resettlement payment'. equivalent of one month's salary per year served as an MP, capped at 6 maximum

but you don't if you just stand down. which is probably the only reason e.g. Danczuk bothered to put his name on the ballot as an independent.

'Dire financial situations' sounds like some of them can't even pay their mortgages. I'm imagining some backbencher looking forward to their 'inevitable' victory and buying a second home or something, only to lose their seat.
