Something confused me--Laura released the cab driver like he was a djinn under some kind of compact; we know he isn't one, so what's up with that? And I thought he was getting something out of all this too? I thought Sweeney was also guiding him to the djinn he was in love with, so why would he split up with them?

He was getting the location of the djinn which Sweeney slipped to Laura and then told him, at which point he buggered off cause he didn't really like Sweeney.

This is probably my favorite Swearingin scene. https://youtu.be/6QbEzCoTafU Good episode even if it had a lack of Wednesday. The horrifically comic mid adventures of Mad Sweeney and Dead Wife made up for it. I really liked the parallels to take between essie and dead wife and having mad Sweeney play a role in each of them.

I thought that was oddly phrased too, they made a big deal out of it, "I release you". But like Genocyber said, he wanted to know where the djinn was, and they told him, so he left because he got what he wanted already.

I liked the ep, but it's disappointing to take it this slow in an 8 episode season. Isn't that the 2nd ep with very little to none of Wednesday, and that's 1/4 of the season!

The glacial pacing doesn't really bother me. Hannibal season two mostly consisted of people metaphorically fishing. This is nothing.

Yeah, I don't really care that the main action hasn't progressed a lot. If I hadn't read the book I might not even notice it too much. Besides, Schreiber and Browning are really, really good together, so it's a fun watch.

It's actually something to do with how our tongue sits in our mouth when we speak, it makes it easier to put on other accents while making it a bastard to learn how to speak with any sort of Australian accent. I mean I can sympathise with a person who feels a bit jarred when everyone has some sort of Dublin accent when playing Irish characters, but at least they can pass for a native of the country. There are basically three Australian accents, and nobody seems to be able to pull off one. That been said, Robert Downey Jr. is actually pretty good. The main annoyance for me in the fact that next week is the finale is that they did a lot of promo material for two characters who have not even been in the season aside from one of them having one scene (Mr. Nancy). And they announced casting for really exciting characters but I guess they're not in this season at all

Hence the current version of the show. (That's also why several of the credited regulars have been in two or fewer episodes this season. Crispin Glover's been in only one!)

Johnny Truant posted:Ah, I did not know not that, thanks. Do you know why they had to reshoot? Bunch of small reasons, from what I understand. The original set for Jack's Crocodile Bar was apparently a godawful piece of poo poo, and they ended up rebuilding nearly the entire thing and refilming all the scenes from the first episode. The original Djinn sex scene apparently looked really bad, and they had to redo that as well. And I understand that there was an episode in the middle of the season that would have intergrated some of the Laura flashback episode, but that was scrapped because everyone thought it was absolutely awful, and they instead decided to bulk out the Laura stuff into an entire episode. They also spent a lot of time and money scouting a location that they didn't end up using this season, but they're apparently moving some of that to next year so it's not completely wasted.

Yeah Jimmy dealing with his lovely heritage was a pretty big part of the most recent season. Not as well done as Gretchen's depression but it did also get less space to use. edit: As much as I love Hannibal, I wish Bryan Fuller et al. had used that one Manhunter tiger scene shot from the Manhunter/Red Dragon moviefight thread. It's a fantastic shot, but I think the TV series wanted to achieve something different. In the film, Francis is struggling with self-loathing (demonstrated by him being jealous of both the vet and the tiger) while simultaneously experiencing love. In the TV show I think they wanted his budding romance with Reba to be more positive at first (TV Francis jizzes his pants when TV Reba touches TV tiger's tooth, giving him hope that he doesn't have to be ashamed of his mouth anymore) and then yanked away from him later. I don't think hes hiding anything, I think its more that the writers went with this very scattershot representation of Britain (which I think is deliberate) so hes simultaneously posh and cockney. Besides, why put the accent on in America? Non-RP British accents do way better with Americans. As a consummate shagger, he should know this by now.

It might be a frightening concept for some readers because it looks like the discussion they were following has disappeared from in front of their very eyes. Readers should not be concerned as tangents are usually harmless and temporary, and within a couple posts the original discussion will return. This concept may be particularly difficult to grasp for those who are still developing object permanence. Think of it like the commercial break that happens several times during your television programming; much like your original television program returning after a minute of commercials, discussion of the main topic will be back soon after a couple posts, no need to worry.

That's a cool condescending tone you've taken there. Does American Gods have commercials where you watch it? If the tiger needs multiple posts for discussion, maybe it's better suited for the Hannibal thread and not the thread for American Gods, the show from the same guy as another show. Or maybe you can find some bad tigers in American Gods and talk about it here.
