lol no

edit: i mean i suppose you can support the IRA if you like, but you should probably actually know enough about them to know why it's (to put it lightly) controversial before proclaiming your love for a proscribed organisation

American's have a long history of supporting the IRA without really knowing what they're doing. Why stop now?

I was drinking with an American in an Irish bar in Germany, and he ordered an "Irish car bomb", which I learned was a drink. The bartender didn't like that so I had to explain to him that he's a oval office and he left presently.

My mum sent me an article about Corbyn and The Woodcraft Folk that I found interesting. For anyone that doesn't know, Woodcraft is a progressive and leftist youth group that was often billed as anti-Scouts or "Scouts for hippies" when I was going

https://inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/woodcraftcorbyn/

I went to Woodcraft for 12 years from the age of 6 to 18 and I think it's a fantastic movement, so finding out Corbyn is a member and leader just makes me love the man even more :swoon: I'd really recommend it to anyone ITT who has kids, I met some of my best friends to this day there and I think it's a really great thing for young people to be involved in

Two questions about UK politics from an American:

Does Britain have any equivalent to American state senates (ie, governing bodies for specific regions/areas that work for that region's interests), or is the MP for each district that district's only governmental representative?

Also, has socialist-style Labour ever held power in the UK (during their mid-20th century farther-left period)?

Uh, we've got councils I guess, that's sort of local government on a lovely budget.

Yes, that's why we have the NHS.

1945 had the Labour government with the greatest achievement in their history: the creation of the NHS.

Socialist labour governments have served in the periods: 1945-51, 1964-70 and 1974-79.
