That would actually be a good thing though, the centerpoint would have been pulled massively to the left if the Tories were pledging to invest in the public. The only way they could ruin it is by going full DUP 'austerity is bad, but gays are the pope in disguise which is awful' and I think even the Tories have figured out that won't help.
