"...of course not. Why did I ask."

Same, when playing with more than group of 3 someone is always gonna be Jason and it ruins the game because everyone in the party knows how they play Jason and there's a good chance that Jason will purposefully avoid you since your friends and whatnot. 3 is perfect.

If they escaped with an item, it should wash up on the shores nearby. I've seen shorelines just littered with unused healing sprays and other items.

They changed the betrayal penalty from -200xp to -1000 in the most recent Xbox patch, so it's very likely we're getting that as well on PC soon. I... may have steered into a few people on purpose when playing as Chad in the car. But now it looks like I better not do that ever, thanks professional Friday the 13th players!

Also stepping in player-set beartraps and dying results in betrayal in addition to running in front of the car, so get ready for the actual griefers to start doing these things to ruin your day!

It's high time we discuss Jason strengths and weaknesses, what's good, what's useless. Ratings below are my opinion of the impact / value of the strength or weakness. For example, if something is rated a "1" then it's not especially valuable as a strength, but great to have as a weakness.

Defense

Jason II and Jason IX have low defense, meaning they are easier to knock on their bum bum. There are no Jason's with "high" Defense, as Stun resistance is treated separately. Overall, I don't see this as being too much of a help or hindrance, as counselors who are more apt to melee you (Bugzy, Adam) usually roll with perks for melee - making it likely they will 1 shot you regardless. As such this seems only to come into play with mid - low strength characters, such as Vanessa or chubbs McGee. While it's embarrassing to be knocked by these types - I don't see it being a frequent problem, it likely won't even be noticeable. The only time when it's a serious concern is against a co-ordinated group who are trying to kill you.

2/5 - Situational only.

Stun Resistance

This one can be great to have, and annoying to not have. Jason III has a low stun resist, and he is out for a while when he gets thumped. This can be a problem especially in tense moments around an important objective, such as the phone box or a car attempt. Those few seconds can mean the difference in numerous, or no counselors escaping. A high stun resist will protect you from the more skilled players who like to roll with melee perks and are more adept at landing blows. This can mean the difference between taking out a good player and not.

4/5 - Can easily make all the difference

Max HP

Only Jason 9 carries this as a negative. While Duster may have recent personal experience to the contrary, this is an unimportant statistic and similar to "Low Defense." However, it's even less impactful as it only comes into play during a kill attempt.

0.5/5 - A weakness only in a specific situation which is uncommon.

Morph

Being able to Morph from one objective to the next is how you play Jason and keep them in the map with you. You will need to bounce around to keep people off objectives, unless they're absolute trash. It's also used to chase down people out of shift range, and to perform vehicle stop attempts. Morph is used constantly in almost every situation, and having a shorter cooldown is wonderful.

4.5/5 - Game changing

Sense

I don't usually play a Jason who have this as a strength, but I did recently and the difference was profound. While it's not typically difficult to track down counselors, knowing when they are close to objectives is critically important. In addition, it's my belief that this also affects the ability to hear sounds such as the car or boat starting which immediately becomes a top priority target. Jasons with bad sense (Jason III) can be ghosted by good counselors unless they are really on their game, the flipside is that counselors who do this aren't usually getting a lot done. In addition, it's easy to overcome a weaker sense by killing power boxes and acting like a good, scary Jason.

3.5/5 - Knowledge is power, but not the best power.

Shift

Shift is how you get everything done. How you damage people, how you catch them, how you stop them, how you juke them. Being good with Shift is mandatory for every walking Jason, which is most of them. Shift is the most important power. Period.

5/5 - Bread + Butter for EVERY Jason.

Traps

Traps are key for objective denial, will alert you to what's going on, and put out some damage. They are the primary means for slowing and denying objectives when you are elsewhere, and also can exhaust pocket knives which are the most valuable item for counselors. That being said, the biggest flaw with traps is that Jason doesn't necessarily know which trap has been set off. It's happened more than once that I will immediately morph to the phone box, only to realize the trap in question was on a car. (and now morph is on cooldown) In fact, some people would argue that placing traps in only one spot can eliminate this confusion entirely, and gives you peace of mind while you harass other objectives.

3/5 - Valuable, but two extra or less traps is unlikely to play a huge factor.

Throwing Knives

They're useful for chasing, and can bring someone down to the wounded state after a good hit. However the advantage of having extra is compensated for by picking up a couple more, of which there are plenty. It's a minor time sink, but given you always have 2 right off the bat - not a huge factor.

2/5 - Just not that important.

Grip Strength

Once you grapple on to someone, they either have a pocket knife or they're dead. If you're obsessive about environmental kills, then this one is for you. If you're like me and just want to remove the player ASAP - it won't make much difference at all.

1.5/5 - It won't matter 95% of the time unless you *have* to birdbath them. Duster

Weapon Strength

Very handy, as this is the primary means to get counselors to the wounded state. Thick skin is arguably the best perk to have as counselor, with many people loading out with it. A good couple hits and a throwing knife will require that counselor to use both a pocket knife and health spray if they want to live. This also comes in handy if you have to face "the lynch mob" as you can make short work of a few counselors just by spamming LMB.

4/5 - A wounded counselor is as good as dead

Destruction

It's very nice to be able and destroy doors in a few swings, but if you know how to avoid the door animation you can speed up your destructive potential on any Jason. It's good for flushing them out of an important cabin, or just causing mayhem while you wait for your next morph while nobody is around. Unfortunately about halfway through the game it becomes next to useless as you enter rage mode.

2.5/5 - Fun and handy, but is a waste of a strength halfway through.

Swim Speed

Very, very situational. All Jasons are fast in the water, and if you see the boat being launched you have a very good chance at tipping it regardless. You'd have to blow your morph and get juked by the boat in order for this to be a factor. Even then, it's only 2 people. Nobody spends time in the water elsewise, and you could easily catch them even if they did regardless of your swim speed.

1/5 - Just doesn't matter much

Run speed

Jason II and Jason III can run. It's good depending on your playstyle. I love to hit the power boxes and smash all the windows - so I get a lot of use out of Jasons ability to move around efficently. Counselors who are caught farther away from cabins are in serious danger if you are near them. It's great for exhausting people, although that method can soak some time. You still wind up counting on shift to finish the job, but putting that kind of pressure on their stamina pool is good. Jason's with a good shift, however, can actually do that job better - but a the expense of a cooldown.

3.5 /5 - Your mileage may vary. :smug:

Stalk

Stalk can be fun, but I have a hard time getting much out of it. Stalk activates late in the match, so it suffers from a distinct lack of any usefulness until mid-late game. I've only had one Jason (Lastdancer, maybe?) setup a good jump-scare on me in a cabin. Otherwise most people use it to shift up to someone who is jogging in a straight line or trying to regain stamina for a quick grab kill. I just don't get much from stalk, so maybe someone can convince me to raise my rating. But you probably won't.

2.5/5 - Fun and good for 1 or 2 kills if you like it and are good, but "meh" overall.

I welcome your input and maybe we can add it to the OP.

I really like popping Sense, Stalk and Shift all at once. You get a big highlight of who you're after, if you start slightly out of range they don't know you're coming, then they're loving dead. I've inflicted some decent jumpscares using this on houses with open doors.

It is almost definitely not optimal, but it's Jason as hell.

Also how do I get survivors to stop ditching me as I heroically whoop Jason's rear end to protect them  I had Tommy Jarvis steal the two seater once and leave the map when we were the only two people left in the camp.

Stalk is wonderful, I had one round with two people inside a cabin, I smash out all the windows but one, then stalk just behind the corner. Sure enough one of the counselors decides "sweet he left" and climbs out, only for me to grab her and hurl her right back through the window :black101:

stealth characters work and are good, but it's important to understand that stealth characters are only safer with regard to the others in the area/in the game. a team full of AJs is going to suck for everyone involved because Jason will still eventually pick them up, and when he does they are largely hosed. three AJs plus some Vanessas and Adams thrown into the mix will be much more effective as Jason is more likely to detect and get preoccupied with the faster, stronger, louder survivors while AJs bop around with their near-silent sprinting and get poo poo done.

the final form for most goons in terms of playing this game has been Adam or Buggzy, though. reality of the situation is that if you can directly affect Jason you're doing the most good for your team. a distracted jason can still turn around and do whatever at any given moment. a jason that's flat on his rear end isn't doing anything much for the duration of his stun, or the protected recovery period afterward.

stealth means less noise, which means you aren't pinging all over jasons radar every time you move anywhere. It's generally better late game, because early game you're probably sneaking around less anyway. One key tip for not dying instantly is if you spawn near the phone box hide in the house until jason leaves. He's coming there first if he's competent, so just wait for the music to kick in and kick back out.

If you start at a car just book it to the house in that area furthest from the vehicle and then sneak around and work your way back in, Jason is likely going to pop to the cars after the phone box and trap stuff, then head out to areas with high concentration of noise bubbles. If he's good he's hitting power boxes while he he's popping around objectives, so if that's the case you may just want to run away from any objectives you spawn near, unless there are a lot of you. He doesn't get shift for several minutes into the game, so he's relatively easy to stun early, especially if you have a group watching each others back.

I pick my counselor based on the general composition of the rest of the group. You're already dead
Stealth characters are good until you get perks that help you survive Jason. The best stealth is being able to knock down Jason and run away or outrun the slower character and knock out a grabby Jason. The playerbase has evolved to actively hunt Jason and stealth loses out on speed or power.

I would argue that traps are not that much better since you can only put them outside and on terrain it allows. You can also sometimes bypass it with QTE teleporting. You need to drop multiple traps in that case. They are not good in the late game where you are no longer guarding objectives and everyone has grouped up and running out the timers/escaping, because you decided to save some and the cops are called in for three minutes.

Traps are fine for some objectives and dumb for others. Don't trap the driver's side door on a car, never works. Trapping the phone box or the battery input point, however, hard denies that objective until someone trips it or burns a pocketknife on it. I also like to drop traps on power boxes I knock out since it's a hard denial, few people expect them there, and if the lights stay down that's a huge benefit to you the entire game.

Traps also are good for lynch mobs since they can cover your flank.
