Supposedly Lily Allen told the real estimated death toll on the TV when being interviewed by Jon Snow, she got it from the police as she has been one of many helping out there.

Police have a total of over 150 people missing they presume dead - the majority of them are children

This will bring down the government.

The interview is here -

https://www.channel4.com/news/lily-allen-the-government-is-trying-to-micromanage-grief

The exact words she uses are 'many of them are children'. Snow confirms the 150 estimate as well.

She is right the government is trying to micromanage this to downplay the political impact, and the press are allowing them to.

Reports are saying there's 600+ people living in the flats. I wouldn't be surprised if there were 3 or 4 kids per bedroom, increasing the amount of dead.

I think its worth reading their full formal statement:

sinn fein posted:

We told Prime Minister May and she and her government are in default of the Good Friday Agreement and that they have turned a blind eye to the disruptive actions of the DUP over a long time.

Both the government and the DUP have refused to implement key agreements on language and equality rights and dealing with the legacy of the past.

The DUP are opposed to rights that are enjoyed across Britain and in the rest of Ireland, especially in respect of LGBT citizens and marriage equality.

The failure to honour commitments made, in some cases almost 20 years ago, and the allegations of corruption over the Renewable Heat Initiative are why Martin McGuinness resigned.

That is why the Institutions are in crisis.

The British government have made clear its intention to scrap the Human Rights Act and leave the European Court of Justice, and the European Convention on Human Rights. This is a direct attack on the Good Friday Agreement, and the core human rights elements of the agreement.

The imposition of Brexit, against the will of the people of the North, will undermine the all-Ireland structures and rights of citizens in the North to EU citizenship, which are guaranteed under the Good Friday Agreement.

We warned Mrs May that the pact between the Tories and the DUP has the potentialto undermine past agreements and the re-establishment of the Executive.

Any deal that undermines the Good Friday Agreement will be opposed by Sinn Féin and we would hope the Irish Government.

If the institutions are to be put in place they need to be sustainable, viable and properly resourced. Sinn Fein has consistently made this point and Michelle O’Neill reiterated that today with Prime Minister May. We also argued for a financial package.

We told the British Prime Minister that in our view she is playing fast and loose with the Good Friday Agreement in a desperate attempt to cling to power.

We challenged the British Government to fully implement the outstanding aspects of the Good Friday and subsequent agreements

So Sinn Fein are holding to their line that, regardless of any DUP pact, the government are still in contempt of the Good Friday agreement through their Brexit, human rights and legacy (though this isn't mentioned here) policy.

The DUP pact has potential to undermine the GFA if the government continues to facilitate and assist the DUPs refusal to implement outstanding agreements and bring in local human rights reforms.

Its a broad shot against May warning here to mind herself and reiterating their stance that the government, just as much as the DUP, are threatening the institutions through their policy.

Corbyn has promised he will get to the truth, and unlike pretty much every other politician he has a habit of keeping his promises.

This is an incredibly unfunny thing, but I couldn't keep from laughing bitterly at the stinger here:

quote:
Gareth Beeton from the Fire Brigade Union said London Fire Brigade - in conjunction with the union - has pleaded for the firefighters to go to Paddington fire station where counselling and well-being services are based.

“The things the members of the union have seen in London in terms of traumatic events of this nature is vast," says Mr Beeton.

“We have had previous events ranging from the Croydon tram incident to the Westminster bridge attack and more recently the incident in Borough Market.

“Firefighters were exposed to scenes that they did not expect to see on that night

“Support is there for the entirety of our firefighters career and their future.

“Of course it has been difficult due to recent cuts. Counselling services were reduced from 14 counsellors to two."

Last page, but I really want to bring this around. Emergency service guys see lots of bad poo poo all the time, but mass casualty incidents of children are a special kind of hell. I happen to live very close to the Sandy Hook Elementary School area, and since I have close ties to the fire service I've heard some stories that I wish I could burn out of my mind about the day the the shooting massacre happened. I can't even imagine how the people that actually saw it first hand cope with it to this day.

The people going into the tower and clearing it will need a ton of support going forward.
