After the fire and just the general lovely performance put on by Tories in the last few weeks I can't see how even the most hard-nosed oval office could still have a nice word to say about them. The conservative woman on the QT panel legit called May a dignified individual. Also when it comes to who to blame for the disaster, there are likely guilty parties all round. Earlier on it was mentioned that the cladding is considered safe by UK standards (obviously it wasn't very loving safe), even if it were, the material used to secure it to the building may not have been. I did hear a resident on the news earlier on today talking about how they thought wooden battens had been used.

Wooden battens wouldn't have been used because they would require a small amount of carpentry skill on site. Every modern building system is designed in a way that allows the manufacturer to emphasise the "low skill" nature of installation.
