New The Faceless Song. A lot more prog than usual but it's pretty good. Like most things I have to give it a few listens. Not a fan of their new vocalist.

Edit-Oh it's the Abigail Williams guy.

He died for your sins...
New Duskmourn coming in 3 days for all your melodic folk death metally ways, out of the historically folky location of...New Jersey, USA.

I never heard of these guys before the announcement from the Atmospheric Black Metal guy on Facebook ( great follow btw ), but this is some good poo poo. In truth I can't really pin a specific band similarity, not that it's THAT unique but it's hard to put a finger on it...maybe bits of Gallowbraid? Think occasional flute, mouthharp, synths, and melodic guitar leads with growling vocals and some chanting. Edit - maybe a sort of American melodeath Moonsorrow? Edit 2: definitely getting a bit of Be'lakor in the guitar melodies here.

Their bandcamp: https://duskmourn.bandcamp.com/

New single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHC2gbZr3JQ ( poo poo quality, hopefully just a bad upload )

I'm currently listening to the new Death Fortress LP and it owns: https://deathfortress.bandcamp.com/album/triumph-of-the-undying The drumming is even beefier than on their previous album. It seems they got tired of people calling them death/black metal, though, because that guitar sound is extremely tinny.

Read this as "new Dwarf Fortress LP" and questioned where I was for a second.

Thank you, it's like I just got some water! This sounds like it could be on the soundtrack of one of those crazy 80s movies, like Steel Grave/Gow in Dario Argento's Opera.

Ironically, none of the members of Randy are actually named - Randy. I just assumed this to be a solo metal effort by a metal demigod appropriately named, Randy. Still yet, the the requirement to be in the band must have been a rad 80's cop / pornstar mustache. Thanks for sharing!

They picked that name because they all look like Randys.

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but.. is it folk metal if it's just black/power-ish stuff with some older instruments?

Also, the favourite song link is 48 minutes, so.. it's an album. What should I try out if I'm just taking one song?

The Beast is such a loving good song. Randy fits in really well with a bunch of other 80s bands that have one really awesome song that loving rips but didn't really do anything else of note like Kraze (Land of Sorcery), Universe (Stories From the Old Days), and Hiroshima (Solider of the World)

I'd say Randy has a few great ones, Shadows Are Falling and Nightmare are really cool, The Beast is the best though. Thanks for the links, shred-tastic!

It was really cool to finally see Suicidal Tendencies and eventhough I did enjoy it, they stretch out most of the songs in their setlist which felt pretty cheap. They actually only play a handful of songs over a short hour, going on and on with the same song like Can't Bring me Down. I'm sure it took about 10 minutes.. I don't get it really, why would you do that? These guys don't exactly strike me as being lazy or something and Muir's voice is still pretty good.

I'm thrilled they finally loving released a new track because it gives me hope they might actually release a new album at some point in my life. I'm diggin' this track a bit more than the last track they released two years ago but Michael Keene's clean vocals sound kinda fucky to me.

Yeah saw them last weekend. It was ok, some pretty cool riffs but not a lot of dynamic pace wise and I am not a fan of Willets' way of using his voice in this band.

I hadn't heard anything about Symphony X in a while, so I looked them up to find out when they might be putting out a new album and found this statement from Russell Allen:

"To be honest with you, I'm a hundred percent committed to [ADRENALINE MOB] and that's what I'm about right now," he admitted. "So if you wanna come see me sing in the next few years or forever, however long this thing goes on for, then you're gonna see me in the MOB. There's no future plans for SYMPHONY X at this time."

I'm bummed out now.
