Incompetence can have dire consequences and should be punished way harder than it is. Aside from Thatcher, have we ever had a prime minister effectively dodge the people she governs for fear of being torn apart by them? Is this worse than then?

I'm getting a bit concerned that May has forgotten that the public exist. When was the last time she actually met someone on the street? She gets shuttled from pre-planned election campaign stop to pre-planned media event at a hospital.

She is astonishingly bad at taking even mild criticism. A friend of my mum is in her constituency and went to meet her once at a constituency surgery. Apparently May got really snippy and finger pointy when asked some fairly mild questions.

Someone said earlier in the thread May is just not good at contacts or conversations that isn't planned ahead in detail. Everytime she gets a question that isn't pre-known she starts acting like one of the lizard people. So meeting anyone on the street must be as alien to her as the warmth of compassion.

I'm not completely sure I trust that even modern "luxury" buildings are being built to a high safety standard either. I am sure they have superficially nicer furnishings, but I don't even trust big capital so far as to invest in safety measures unless absolutely forced to by the state, even when it comes to housing capital's loyal servants.

There's also the wider issue of the council and the government being utterly useless. I've seen most of the residents say that the council haven't shown up at all, and the government just send spokespersons out to give a statement then retreat. It's astonishing how badly this is being handled.

I can't remember the details off hand but I think there was some Incorrect stuff in Lammy's history. But that's every MP and he's all in the right place here, and if he lost a friend, then, well. I'd say this could bring down the government but we still don't even have one. It's a perfect storm and it's not going away.

i understand not going out in front of the actual victims because she's scared of them (even if i don't condone it) but when was the last time she actually appeared on camera or talked to a journalist it's like she's hoping everyone will forget she's supposed to be in charge

The media response is even the same and seems to have no appreciation or understanding of the context of the cuts or the class of the victims.
