Close down all private schools, divert money to all public schools, as private schools push the bullshit classism that shouldn't exist in Australia.

And while we're at it, close down all inner city golf courses and turn them into either public parks or low cost housing for people.

Remember people: More Love, Less Andrew Bolt.

Counter point, the North Adelaide golf course is lovely and it making money means that section of the parklands is much nicer than it would otherwise be.

Imagine if instead of people going there to participate in a sport from Europe they instead paid to have their hair braided and click their fingers on a sliding income scale.

Working class people also like to play golf. Used sets of clubs are cheap and you get 4-5 hours of outdoor entertainment for $25-35 which is essentially unbeatable.

You can also drink while you play.
Counterpoint, grass is really lovely in terms of water consumption. Maybe find other ways to relax?

The inner city in Melbourne has a huge range of good things to do for little outlay or for free, so I have no idea what you are talking about.

I haven't got a problem with golf generally. I love a good round. Just bugger off with the immaculately manicured exclusive inner city courses. I used to play at the Carbrook 18 Holes in south Logan. Barely cost anything to play, was on the Logan River so it didn't use too much water, and it was largely native trees and scrub except for the fairway. True working class golf course.

Race days though can gently caress right off.

Golf would be a lot more fun if, instead of having to get the ball into the hole, you had to get the ball to hit moving targets like Andrew Bolt and Caleb Bond.

Is there some sort of a problem with any of this?

To actual stupidity:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-06-21/government-may-have-set-itself-up-to-fail-with-this-budget/8636216

quote:

But by arguing the budget is one that eases the cost of living for families, has the Government over-egged its sales pitch and set itself up to fail its own test?

It did not take long for the obvious questions to fly thick and fast at the Treasurer's media conference. What was the Government doing to help households pay for sky-rocketing electricity bills or the climbing cost of driving on Sydney's motorways? What hope did it offer renters in one of the most unaffordable cities in the world? A thin film of sweat began to gather on the Treasurer's lip as he tried to steer the media pack back to the stellar state of the economy and what it meant more broadly for families. "We don't run surpluses for the sake of it," Mr Perrottet said. "We run surpluses so we can invest those funds in the things that matter most to people's lives — better healthcare, better education and better public transport." The billions of dollars in the budget for new schools and hospitals will no doubt make a huge difference to the everyday lives of families. It should be an excellent selling point for the Government in the home stretch to the 2019 election. But by trying to market this budget as one that eases the cost of living, the Government has scored an own goal.

The obscene surplus was only achieved by an aggressive and stupid privatisation campaign. To compare it to a household budget: We can now afford to rent for a few years because we sold our house. These clowns are painfully and aggressively stupid. I guess I know where pubbie WoT players come from.

the concept of 'middle class' has been so watered down over time by everyone in the comfortable working class saying they're 'middle class' it's just now more FYGM class warfare.

Unless you're a consulting surgeon or are a partner of a law firm or own a chain of malls, and you can play golf all week and maybe take a few business calls stop calling yourself 'Middle class' and start hating the people with real money who continue pitting us all upon each other

I'm gonna back you in, if only because we really don't engage with the poor outer rim and rural electorate. We leave Labor Right, LNP and ONP to fight amongst each other on culture wars instead of providing a radical socialist rhetoric to resonate with them. I'm not blaming our campaigners - if there's one thing that they hate more than rich elites ruining their lives, its bussing in a bunch of inner city doorknockers to tell them how to live their life.

It's as much a pejorative for snobby Guardian readers as it is a reference to an actual class.
