In terms of actual policy, the Senate bill cuts the hell out of Medicaid. So, the administration's response has been to send HHS Secretary Price and Kellyanne Conway to literally say "this bill does not cut medicaid".

Basically, all administration officials on TV have given up trying to convince other people and are only trying to convince one person.

I'm surprised more Republican senators aren't trying to use their votes to extort favors from McConnell.

Considering McConnell is likely extorting them already via them not getting primaried, they don't really have a choice.

The GOP can afford three defectors.

That's exactly what they ARE doing! That's why only one Republican Senator has come out as a squishy-but-firm no. All of the other Republicans are whining about the process, but when pressed, they'll say poo poo like "I want to get to yes" or "I have serious concerns with the bill as it stands now".

Everyone's mostly holding tight for the CBO score tomorrow, then they'll complain about the numbers for another day, then magically there will be low-grade "fixes" to the bill through the week proposed by those waffling senators.

Right, but whats surprising is that the GOP isn't holding out more. Their should be 50 senators blowing up McConnell's phone asking for X, Y and Z.

I thought they wouldn't be this organized, is my point.

If he were such a genius at the Art of the Deal, his first thought would be to hold the healthcare bill hostage to get that law preventing him from dealing with russian sanctions watered down/blocked.

He doesn't have to because he just told the House to do it and they are already in the process of doing so.

Notice how its been delayed? They are trying to rewrite it or at least remove the language that prevents Trump from being able to repeal them with out congressional approval.

yeah that is pretty common in slave societies where men can take concubines. southern plantation mistresses gave the harshest punishments to the slaves who their husbands raped.

Man I dunno what to think. If you go to the effort of moving to a whole new country to join a bloodthirsty, murderous, rape-fuelled extremist caliphate then are you really a victim? I really try to make efforts to see things from other people's eyes and sympathise and poo poo, but at some point I'm just like, gently caress it. :fuckoff:

I fully expect that I'm going to drop dead working, SS will be gone completely, or the age to start drawing it is going to be like 75, so that's out. Pretty much guarantee another housing crisis is coming in the next decade, realistically 2-3 years. Also I'm pretty sure my nest egg is going to end up being spent on end of life care for my parents. Hopefully I can do something fun in the next 40 years to justify it.
