McGuire was on Ottawa radio today saying that Karl Alzner is a good top 4 guy and Shattenkiro is a 5/6. I think it's terrible we will never see him as the GM of a team.

I think I'm going to try and make Robert Bortuzzo the most discussed NHL player on SA. For example look at these charts:

Yak's last good season was all the way back in 2012-13. That shine has worn off. You just have to ignore that Raycroft put up a historically awful save percentage in 05-06.

They finally got that Rafalski replacement! Oh gently caress, it turns out he's actually terrible. From watching McDavid play, he looks like a Crosby level talent. I wouldn't be surprised to see him get upwards of $15m a year on a long term contract.

If Ovechkin had been limited to the current 8 year max when he signed his current 13 year extension he would have been a free agent after the 2015-2016 season in which he scored 50 goals. Would've been interesting to see what happened this past season. Benson Cunningham posted:From watching McDavid play, he looks like a Crosby level talent. https://twitter.com/TSNRyanRishaug/status/879835652644192256 So Chiarelli's only move thus far has been trading Eberle for Strome, which is a downgrade in RW. Otherwise he's going to go into the season with almost the exact same roster as last year and approximately $9 mil in cap space after Draisaitl signs his new contract. Sekera is still hurt, there's no replacement for him other than going "okay just let Nurse/Benning play on the 2nd pair and hope for the best". The Oilers lack of scoring depth still hasn't been addressed, in fact it's been hurt by trading Eberle for a lesser player. And rather than using any cap space they're just going to let it go to waste, even though this is the last year of McDavid's ELC and they could easily fit in a couple of pieces on one year deals. Not to mention that last year was a case of everything that could have gone right did (right up until the Ducks series), and you're literally banking on that happening yet again. This is going to end in one of two ways. The Oilers stay healthy, McDavid has the greatest season ever and they win the Stanley Cup, or they miss the playoffs. No matter what happens, fire Chiarelli.

That shouldn't be overlooked - the same cap hit on an 8 year deal is worse than what Crosby or OV signed. tofes posted:Is Kovy any good still anyway? Maybe, probably?
