I think one thing that people in the UK would grudgingly have to accept is the toughness of the players. Soccer you get guys clutching their shins in agony after a minor scrape from a tackle, meanwhile Patrice Bergeron is playing a 6-game championship series with a punctured lung and separated shoulder, and you get poo poo like Gregory Campbell having his shinbone shattered by a slapshot and still finishing his shift on the ice like I don't even know how a soccer crowd would react to a nosebleed on the field or whatever, in hockey they take just advantage of a 10-second stoppage in play to scrape the blood off the ice which is pretty brutal

Soccer guys clutch their shins because FIFA keeps the game so backward that if they convince the ref for even 10 seconds that they're genuinely hurt it could literally be the difference between losing the match or getting big bonus payouts from their club for winning.
