I'm actually going to defend Hisoka a little here and say that he only kills people who have "assumed the risk" on some level (Hunter Exam candidates, Blacklist Hunters, Heaven's Arena fighters, etc.). I don't remember him ever killing normal civilians.

I think it's a mistranslation and the actual translation will be closer to "don't look surprised" or something like that. If she reacted to it immediately it Tserriednich would guess that she has nen even if he can't see the creature himself. It didn't matter in the end because she chose to reveal she had nen but perhaps Sarkov was giving her an out e.g. "don't react therefore you can pretend to be ignorant of nen" because he too realised she had not hope of reforming Tserriednich.

Tserried's supposed to be a genius, right? I get the feeling that if she even does the "teaching the wrong type of Nen" that Wing did or something similar he's probably going to figure it out for himself, and that's not going to be good for anyone, least of all her.

I don't think that explains Sarkov's comment though and the second part i.e. the serial killing part is exactly why she would be in a bad position normally. I'm really curious as to what kinds of abilities the other Nen Beasts will have considering that they have to attack indirectly. We've seen blood-draining and possession so I hope the others are really odd too. I wonder if Halkenburg is also responsible for his own dead guards like Woble probably is.

I completely forgot Nen wasn't just a thing everyone in the world knew about already. Comes of the last couple arcs (that is, the last decade of the comic) revolving entirely around people who already knew about it. The Hunter's Association must do a real good job covering that poo poo up.

Zepile actually did this too, albeit to a less extreme extent. The serial killer knife-maker was another, as well as, well, everyone whose stuff Gon and Killua bought in Yorknew, though we only saw the effects of their work, not them personally. Though Komugi is the only one we see actually using Nen unconsciously- Wait, no, we both forgot the big one. Neon. She had a full nen ability developed that she didn't even know about.

did meruem even have an explicit hatsu? was it the fact that he could eat other beings w/ nen and absorb their abilities, or was that just part of his biology? considering im fairly sure nen was never fully explained to him (only pitou seemed to like really get into the details of it) its almost absurd how powerful he was

he was too young and unformed to have a hatsu. generally people develop their nen to give them what they want, and until komugi meruem only wanted things within the reach of his originally remarkable abilities.

I really dig the whole way Meruem was dealt with due to the fact that, despite being so hideously powerful that even one the strongest Hunters / Nen-Users alive went down with relative ease from his perspective, he gets killed in such a "mundane" (still loving horrifying if you think about it, though) way that it makes you think what Togashi was trying to say something like: "Yeah, Cell/Majin Buu would totally get killed by a nuke or the radioactive poisoning of one in a more realistic setting. How about them apples?". Additionally, the fact that they mentioned that a poo poo-ton of countries are stockpiling a bucket-load of the loving things and that they're not all that shy about using them.

Character has been on-panel for like ten pages and already I just want her and her buddy to get out of this intact. Stay safe around your evil murder-prince you two. (they are both doomed as gently caress) Also that beast design is fantastic. Show it earlier in the chapter looking comparatively 'normal' wide-shot, followed by some weirder beasts (including the weird insect-hulk), then finish up with that terrifying stare-down to say "no, it's this one, this is the worst one". How about them apples?". It's why the Ants were considered a B Rank threat. While they could do a lot of damage and spread pretty quickly if Meruem had succeeded in mating and producing new queens, they ultimately would never have beaten Humanity as in the end they could just nuke em. The A Rank threats from the Dark Continent are stuff that can't really be fought. Which is the reason Netero was not interested in the Dark Continent as a challenge, as he was a martial artist and fighter foremost, so stuff he could not fight did not really perk his interest.

For me, Meruem wasn't evil because he was just an animal in the end and behaved like one. Up to the point where he regenerated any way. He was basically trying to become (pack) leader of the world by challenging and defeating those stronger than him in various disciplines, but that is just not how human society functions. Even someone like Netero, who was very much in tune with nature and part of that kind of world, realized that if he couldn't beat Meruem with his natural abilities, he would have to use other means. And also, I am pretty sure it says somewhere in the manga that Meruem was a Specialist and that his ability was indeed being able to absorb peoples aura by eating their brain, though it has been a while since I last read those chapters.

The Hunter's Association must do a real good job covering that poo poo up. The martial arts school that teaches Nen was founded by Netero himself so the hunter's association has a lot of control over what I would assume the majority of Nen training exists. Likewise it's only really possible to obtain nen through meditation and knowledge of the art, and people who know it keep it very secret as we saw in the last few chapters. Wing mentions that while anyone can learn nen, there is great care taken in who is taught it so whatever masters exist in the world all seem very particular about who they share their information with. Which is why Theta is in the current situation she's in; Tserriednich is a literal monster that wears human skin and should never be allowed to develop any sort of abilities through Nen. Imagine the kinds of stuff he could do if he were to pursue manipulation alone. On top of his Nen beast that's not going to make him unstoppable, but a greater evil than should be allowed to exist. It makes me wonder why she signed up to work for him in the first place.

it's not that he is a monster, though he unquestionably is. it is that he is a brilliant, talented monster with very particular obsessions, and nen tends to be oriented around a given person's obsessions. the worst we've seen was probably chrollo's indoor fish, but what could a genius dedicated to death and mutilation come up with?

It's a conditional that means it's harder for him to steal and maintain skills. I totally agree with you though, Chrollo explicitly states his joy comes from stealing an ability and through it's use discovering the hidden dark thoughts of its creator. T*ch is the last person on the planet I'd want to find out about Nen.
