The solution is education, technological advancement and modernization processes. Building high quality educational institutions, Promoting birth control, and ending the same brain drain that hurts other developing nations. Promoting Agricultural modernization and advancement with internal agricultural subsidies to ensure access to affordable food as the US and Europe has done and to strengthen exports.

These strategies were developed in Asia and South America and worked reasonably well.

Throwing money at issues without a plan won't solve anything.

I like how people have this condescending view of Africa that we either need to chastise or give charity to a massive diverse continent, as if the many nations of are ignorant children or pitiable fuckups.

The main reason much of Africa is so messed up is that it's being actively hosed by many corporations and nations, has been for centuries and continues to this day.

Not to mention religions. We have US born, Christian missionaries setting up shop all over the place there to push the anti-LGBTx and anti-birth control agenda that they can no longer get away with at home. Plus all the Islamic extremist elements that pop up.

That's entirely true but people are either unaware of or forget about the active and major pillaging of resources that continues to this day, but has also been going on forever.

Africa is poor because their poo poo gets stolen. And talking about "Africa" is pretty bad in and of itself. It's a massive, massive continent with a huge amount of diversity of every fashion.

Hell, America has over 100 covert engagements going on at any one time, mostly in Africa. They're fighting a shadow war over there for influence and eventually access to more resources. Pillaging is the right word.

Africa nations are poor because most of them are unable to harvest their own natural resources due to lack of education, tools, or funds. They would have the same problem even if other countries businesses didn't come in to exploit their resources.

That's not something that is easily remedied.

I'm sorry I spent most of my life talking to Diamond Mining and Coal Mining Engineers that worked overseas for massive amounts of cash because they couldn't find locals who actually knew Diamond Mine Engineering and Coal Mine Engineering.

It's not like it's a commonly taught topic in US Schools - so you're telling me I'm to expect African countries a lot of them which have really low levels of education and low quality university to know how to mine all these precious metals properly from pure will power?

You need to have an education to be able to properly take resources from the lands. There are some things you can do without that education. Many forms of agriculture for example - but they hit brick walls when it comes to productivity eventually.

You can mine some stuff without tons of education of course - but the consequences are very high. I guess you haven't read about all the illegal gold miners in Peru duping gallons of mercury into the Amazon recently either huh?

We send people over that know how to mine and set up a Ford style chain of action on the ground compromising simple actions for native workers to do?

I don't see what's so racist about saying that African countries should import outside expertise to improve their resource extraction industries and economies, and that their educational systems are not currently up to developing the expertise to do it themselves. Those arn't exactly controversial statements. These are developing economies, after all.

it works kinda like those tropico games, except instead of building a mine and having your citizens work in it and exporting the gold for cash to enrich your nation, a foreign company shows up and builds its own mine and sends its own workers and pollutes the poo poo out of your land in exchange for tons of money beamed right into your swiss bank account

Why weep or slumber America
Land of brave and true
With castles and clothing and food for all
All belongs to you
Ev'ry man a king ev'ry man a king
For you can be a millionaire
But there's something belonging to others
There's enough for all people to share
When it's sunny June and December too
Or in the winter time or spring
There'll be peace without end
Ev'ry neighbor a friend
With ev'ry man a king
