I'm confused as to what he was trying to do on the play. It looks like chip the DE and go to next level. But then he stops when the DE gets through.

There were like maybe 80 people at my wedding. I get it, its a full mass so way longer than other weddings. Our reception had about 240 people so that was fun. Two live bands with a DJ in between and after, continuous buffet style food, but at around 2 am they brought out sancocho, which is a Panamanian chicken soup for people to get a second wind.

kayakyakr posted:that sounds expensive. It does, however there are several mitigating factors. First, it was in Panama where liquor, food, and service costs all around are lower. Second, back in the 70's her dad joined a country club at exactly the right time. What would cost $100,000 today cost him next nothing. The club gives discounts to members holding parties at the club. The total cost of the wedding: food, bands, DJ, venue, etc was maybe a fifth the cost than had it been in the US.

to bring this slightly back to football, if you genuinely complain about friends/family having fall weddings during a game, you are a lovely friend and deserve shame. You own a portable television with literally endless channels that can also instantly update you on every score. Go to the goddamn wedding.Frinkahedron posted:We had 40 people at our wedding. I've known a few people these days that did very small/private ceremonies, then went on their honeymoon, then came home and did one big party and it was great. No stress on the bride or groom, and everyone had a ball.

It's really not a big deal with unlimited data/watchespn and BTN. Most of them tend to be early in the season anyways, when the only good games are going to be super primetime and something you can easily make if you actually can't fathom missing a game. Seriously, we picked our date to be as early fall as possible, and it means we're getting married the day of OSU-Rutgers in '18. Fall weddings are not that bad.

Yeah, I can't think of ever hearing an actually good best man speech. Both that and the maid of honor will start with "I remember when [name] and [name] first met...", and the best man will promptly try to make about 10 terrible jokes and get lost in at least 2 stories he's trying to tell. Attention every best man: You have 1 minute, max. Nobody's really listening anyway.

It's stunning to me that people can go through life and not randomly end up at at least 20 weddings by the time they're 30. I don't seek these out and at least half of the ones I've gone to have been an obligation thing instead of excitement for the couple, but I ended up attending them anyway.

My married male friends have done us all a favor by having small weddings limited to a single groomsman/best man, whom in most cases was their brother. Not that I wouldn't be honored/willing to be in the party; it's just less of a hassle this way

A best man speech is a life milestone. It is the first time you get to tell a rambling, confusing old man story to a captive audience.
