Nah, it's not going away. What's going to happen is this:

1. teams bitch and moan but do it anyway.
2. Someone figures out how to incorporate an aero advantage (likely Red Bull because Newey)
3. IndyCar uses a shield style protection. Driver don't complain about dizziness. Some teething with tearoffs but a net positive.
4. More bitching about the halo.
5. FIA looks at Indy and goes "Ok, fine, we'll use the shield since you guys don't like the halo".
