Let's address that Lysa is a Tully and thus not from a magic family.

Peanut President posted:No you see this agricultural society that had almost no infrastructure could absolutely keep up with an industrialized nation for 150 years. Originally, the CSA expected Great Britain to step in and win the war for them with the British Navy because of supposed lingering resentments against those drat Yankees from 80 years before. It was a pretty dumb plan, obviously, because Great Britain had abolished slavery 3 decades earlier, didn't really want to associate with a bunch of religious nut jobs that explicitly founded their nation on the concept that God told them owning black people was totally awesome, and already had their own sources of cotton and tobacco because they owned half the globe.

What are the odds that there will be at least one main character who we're supposed to feel sympathetic about because all his net worth is tied up in slaves and so "oh I can't just let them all be freed my family will be destitute! "

I'd be shocked if they didn't manage to handle the entire premise with the care and compassion they have shown in their work on GoT. It's going to be an amazing show full of poignant parallels to our own current society and is going to affect social change on the same scale as GoT did for incest porn.

GRRM just announced no TWOW this year, and despite all the bullshit promises about setting aside distractions he's working on Fire & Blood which might actually come out first

When did he ever promise to put aside distractions? That would have been nice to see. A lie but at least it would have shown that's he's aware of what he should be doing. (If he wasn't an absolute fucker)

Someone calculate how many words per day he would have wrote if it came out tomorrow and was the same length as the longest one already out.

I did a half assed google search and apparently aSoS is the longest one with 424k words. DwD was released July 12 2011, 2054 days ago. GRRM should have written 206 words per day in order to release WoW tomorrow. Average sentences have 15-20 words, so thats 12 sentences per day. lezard_valeth fucked around with this message at 03:02 on Jul 23, 2017 |

Nail Rat posted:If that's true, maybe the Winds of Winter will come out before...just kidding, it's never coming out. Honestly the WoW will come out even if GRRM dies. Now ADoS on the other hand lmao. Basically this vvvv PostNouveau posted:WoW gonna suck. Nothing will happen, and then GRRM will decide ADOS should be two books and then die. Pac-Manioc Root posted:I unironically want to know if the Iron Bank has to cut their losses and write off Westeros or if they finally back someone who can mitigate their bad lending decisions. Well since Arya has a connection to Braavos and her being good with numbers never comes up again probably something to do with her. "Oh his a thing saying the Iron Bank is cool with it, then she dies" GRRM gonna learn alot from the show writers.
