Yeah the Dem elite jettisoning their social stances at the first opportunity took their voters totally by surprise which is why they were all posting "Dems are gonna take a look in the mirror and say 'we gotta get more racist'" for six months.

of course it glosses over the actually important part: the fact that the crowd of listening Boy Scouts joined in. he got them to boo Obama and yell out "We love Trump", and they chanted "USA, USA!" when he talked about repealing Obamacare

that's the next generation of voters right there

I'm about halfway through the Summer 2017 issue of The American Prospect, "The Wages of Neglect".

For the most part, it's excellent, and def Suck Zone relevant. Highlights:

Place Matters: As in the 1930s, progressives need economic development strategies for the left-behind regions of the country. by Harold Meyerson

The Democrats’ ‘Working-Class Problem’: It’s not only with whites. It reaches well into the party’s base. by Stanley Greenberg

Why the White Worker Theme Is Harmful: It’s a mistake to racialize an economy that harms the entire working class. by William Spriggs

John Russo's "The Pittsburgh Conundrum" is spot-on, but unfortunately still behind the paywall.

I guess I can't really blame you for thinking the Suck Zone constantly complains about idpol since you apparently just started reading it last week

The only extent it comes up is to talk about when people use it as a bludgeon to silence people talking about ecpol (see: bend-the-knee-gate)

Hamprince is too narrow minded to realize that the Democrats haven't dropped any of their social planks, but are simply reacting to calls for a more significant focus on economic problems. Only to have Pelosi & Schumer roll out the same stale dogturds they've been trying since the 80s and pretend it's some kind of great new deal.

Let's just recap what happened with McCain:

1. rear end in a top hat rightfully gets cancer.
2. Dem leaders trip over themselves to wish him well and call him a hero.
3. McCain returns to vote against Dems every which way he can.
4. Laugh out loud.

Communism will help more white people than anyone else. Any equal measures unfairly provide less to minority populations just because there's less of them. Democracy is truly the tyranny of the mob.

There was some piece about how the Dem's have been treating campaigning like marketing, causing dipshits like mook. And it really is the case. They don't have much else to offer, so they try to make up the difference in marketing.

to Congressional Dems, McCain is a co-worker, not an enemy. they may be in opposition on the Senate floor, but that's them just acting out their roles, not any genuine opposition

same with Scalise. they might argue and complain while they're on the clock, but after hours they'll all go out and play a friendly baseball game with each other and the lobbyists

it still loving infuriates me that a lobbyist was literally a player on the Congressional GOP baseball team, and that not a single reporter had the balls to actually call it out or draw attention to it

what a lazy and uninspired troll

but this is a good reminder that when people complain about democratic party idpol, they are complaining about this:

quote:

“Not everything is about an economic theory, right?” Clinton said, kicking off a long, interactive riff with the crowd at a union hall this afternoon.

“If we broke up the big banks tomorrow—and I will if they deserve it, if they pose a systemic risk, I will—would that end racism?”

“No!” the audience yelled back.

Clinton continued to list scenarios, asking: “Would that end sexism? Would that end discrimination against the LGBT community? Would that make people feel more welcoming to immigrants overnight?”
