Strepitoso. Vedete? Una meraviglia.
Yeah, VA money and GI Bill money should all be invisible to financial aid. Double dip as much as you can. And if you get work study, triple dip and do homework while getting paid.

So the VA is over 3 weeks late in paying my school. In turn, the school is holding onto some money that I kinda need due to some unforeseen circumstances.

Now I don't remember if it was here or somewhere else, but I'm trying to find a web link that had an online submission form to somewhere in the VA where you get a response relatively quickly. I've used it before when the VA got hung up and it worked. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

edit: got it, it was the GI Bill customer help page, under Ask a Question https://gibill.custhelp.com/app/home

Talk to your school's VA rep. They may be able to get an institutional deferment which will free up your financial aid refund.

Can someone with the knowledge please summarize the effects of the Harry W. Colmery Veterans Education Assistance Act of 2017. I'm getting bogged down in the full-text other than they are getting rid of the use within 15 years of EAOS bit. Which owns.

There's some STEM bonus financing stuff too.

Hi there, would you like to try some spicy products?
Since I'm currently planning for the possible contingency that I may not get a job here, I'm firesaling all my poo poo at the moment, and since my plan on getting every cent for graduation attire reimbursed backfired due to a technicality and some red-tape, I tried to recover some of the cash I paid for all the dumb bling-bling I was coasting about in this very thread.

One of my attempts at a sale took me to the local selling group on Facebook, where a shitton of stuff gets turned around with no questions asked. (just kidding, a lot of dumb questions asked)
As the total retail value of all my dumb graduation bling, including cap & gown, was something around 250 bucks, I figured I'd ask for 75$

I also assumed I wouldn't score the 75$ due to the time of the sale, and was prepared to haggle that poo poo down to 50 or something like that, so I thought I'd write it up with a modicum of humor/sarcarsm, as is quite common there. This is the post.

quote:

Once in a lifetime opportunity here, folks. (No, seriously, you'll only need this once)

Selling a full set of American education comedy attire, to be worn at festive ceremonies where definitely no one will be wearing the same outfit, because a building filled with thousands of civilians all wearing the same exact outfit and only moving when instructed thusly sounds like socialism to me.

This outfit was worn by a ~CERTIFIED SMART PERSON~, because they had a rather formidably-sized skull, thus allowing for above-average brain development while definitely not looking silly. I'm positive there are some people in this very group that can attest to this person's skull size. You, or your kid, will therefore grow more intelligent with every consecutive minute this outfit is worn. Be sure to instruct your spawn to not consume intoxicating substances while wearing this attire, because that's definitely not what smart people do. And I understand there are also rules against consuming intoxicating substances publicly in this country of FREEDOM.

The following items are part of this EXCLUSIVE (*ymmv) deal:
("Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society" henceforth to be abbreviated with "BGS", "Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society" with "PKP", respectively)
  • - NAU Cap & Gown, HAND-TAILORED (I'm sure) to a 6'1" person
  • - Marketing tassel on cap (look how good this seller is at marketing, I mean, come on)
  • - NAU stole of gratitude (sold at the bookstore for 30$ to alleviate you of saying "Thanks, Mom & Dad")
  • - BGS stole (gold-trimmed navy-blue fabric indicating membership in a smart-people club)
  • - BGS cord (what says 'smart' better than your gold-trimmed, navy-blue stole? A MOTHERFUNKING BRAIDED CORD)
  • - BGS medaillon (no, that's not a typo, you uncouth philistine), made of SOLID METAL
  • - PKP stole (too smart for just one smart-people club)
  • - PKP cord (more braided gold than funking Goldilocks)
  • - PKP medaillon (to clang against the other medaillon, thus announcing your smartness to the immediate vicinity upon movement)
  • - Summa Cum Laude Latin Honors cord (you're literally bleeding from the ears due to smartness at this point)
  • - NAU Center for International Education stole (for smart people that sound funny
  • - GERMAN FLAG PATCH ON STOLE (This most definitely makes you 100% German, please be sure to tell everyone you meet; please do not actually wear this when traversing German customs checkpoints)

This entire outfit was purchased with European Roubles in the equivalent of 250$, and I'm trying to recover some of that comically-overpriced amount. I added "Or Best Offer" to enable you to actually give me more money than I'm asking for, because I heard the adage "You can't put a price on education" (lol, you apparently totally can).

You may also attempt to haggle with me for small discounts by promising creative or comedic performances upon delivery. In exchange, I can only offer the gift of German humor. (Disclaimer: May involve unfunny stories revolving around personal loss, tragedy, and crippling substance addiction)

No big deal, right? Take it or leave it. Pretty run-of-the mill-deal.

Nope.

I got a reply from the VA. Turns out my school failed to report my yellow ribbon status for this term, and in turn the VA put me in some different status that stated I had already exhausted my benefits for the school year. My school resubmitted the application.

Well, was it Flagstaff? It's not something that would be too obscure, since 95% of lecture positions are in the Flagstaff "Mountain Campus", while there are legally some locations in Prescott, and some in "Paradise Valley" (lol, it's loving Phoenix, enjoy wearing asbestos condoms).

Ugh

I'm currently in the market for a cap and gown for the spring when I graduate. I'll be going to grad school immediately after. None of my family lives here and I don't care if they come or not. I'm considering skipping it all together but I will be the first person in my family to get a four year degree and I didn't even graduate high school so I figure I might as well waste an afternoon. That said I'm not paying full price for a cap and gown. gently caress that

Like in addition to being full time? Does the cost at your school.scale up after full time? They would just let us stack extra credits on as long as we had a full course load that was intended for our degree progression when I was at Tulane / CU

I don't know if this has been discussed, but anyone looking into getting a professional certification should check out VCTP offered by Syracuse University.

They'll pay for the exam voucher of one certification offered through the program. You have to do skillsoft bullshit but you can breeze through most of it and spend the rest of the time learning from proper study books.

I did it and they're paying for my CEHv9 exam, which is $950 and lol if i'm gonna pay that myself.

I'm not sure what your family income status is currently but Pell Grants are your best bet. I'm not sure how Need Based scholarships tabulate attending on Voc Rehab but I imagine it's not great.

There are a whole bunch of merit based scholarships you could apply for, and your financial aid office should have a whole list that you could ask them for. Many allow you to apply with a general application + the occasional extra essay. Your financial aid office should have all that info and the application window is usually around the end of the calendar year.

You could also look into just sitting in on a class? If you don't need the credit you might just try approaching a professor or two with classes that you are interested in and explaining your situation. Interest in a subject is more than most of their students are gonna demonstrate typically.

No but you can apply to have your Voc Rehab time extended iirc . Since becoming a CPA is a fairly well understood academic track I wouldn't be surprised if they were willing to work with you on the Masters which most CPAs need, right?

You need 150 education hours with a certain number of accounting credits. A bachelors is 132 and comes up a few classes short of the accounting requirement to sit for the CPA. So while there are ways around getting a masters, it's the most common and expected route to get the reqs.

If you're already rated at 20% the process for getting Voc Rehab is pretty simple and they'll pay for those credits / prep courses / whatever as long as they agree to becoming a CPA as a viable career path.
