It's hard not to call to racism when one of the major GOP planks is that they should be allowed to be openly racist against anyone browner than them, be they latino, middle eastern, or African american. Not to mention the calls to persecute Muslims and lgbt people and remove their civil rights.

The truth is in the middle is bullshit when the right is nodding approvingly at literal fascism.

Its literally about racism. And the GOP has repeatedly shown they are fully willing to pull facist poo poo to gain/hold/consolidate power. It really is about racism and facism.

Nearly every state in the South, some in the North even, almost every Red State, is pulling racist style voter suppression crap. Its not just a Left talking point, I mean for god's sake, we have Steve Bannon in the White House and Jefferey Sessions, a man so racist even 1980s Alabama said 'Woah, you are way too racist'. And then we have Trump, a man who honestly skips over the dog whistles and goes straight for the good racist poo poo, plus the xenophobia and paranoid dellusions.

Here's the problem: Doesn't matter. If you vote for Trump and didn't have the god damned foresight to see him for what he was when he was quite open about this poo poo when he was running, maybe you do have some bigotry issues. He didn't hide this stuff while he was campaigning, you'd have to blatantly ignore it to buy that, and then ignore every cabinet and positional pick in his administration to believe that.

And that doesn't even cover the GOP's willingness to toss the poor down a flight of stairs, and re-enact 1950s Civil Rights/Women's Rights fights that should be over and done with. There is no truth in the middle with the current GOP administration. At all.

Considering their willingness to fully rape any 'truth' or facts, why should there be truth in the middle?

IIRC the issue would be that you'd have to grind down to a certain depth so that the evenly deposited chrome would end up right - so you need a grinding wheel moving in a weird geometry, basically. And that's about the point where most people give up.

I'm talking more about the 'Jill Stein 2020' types and the Chapo fans from the perspective of a merely center-left Democrat. It's really worrying, especially as someone who is basically not given any options in the current atmosphere, to be in a place where both parties are in the grips of their own extremist movements.

I didn't mean to imply you were, but I'm more addressing the claim people love to make that "Well, the GOP isn't all racist, you can't say that, you are just saying they are fascist because you disagree"

Jill Stein can go gently caress herself, especially since she OPENLY said that she'd rather have Trump than Clinton, and was in Russia at the same time as the others.

The Dems are in no way 'in the grip' of an extremist movement, unless it is to the right. They are as 'business as usual' as humanly possible, still questing to move far enough right to appease the GOP voters while wondering why they can't seem to motivate the left to show up to vote.

What is the big fear of an extreme left government? I know what the right would do and constantly tries to do, but besides "WOAH THE EXTREME LEFT" I haven't gotten an idea of what exactly is wrong with it. I don't mean to be snarky either, the only thing that seems to say 'EXTREME LEFT' are the overweight dudes in clapped-out 88 Rangers with the 'I don't believe the LIEberal media' bumper sticker slapped crookedly on, right underneath their business vehicle magnet.

Its not this simple thing the rest of the world has that we can have should the democrats just pass a bill. Hell they had their chance and all they did was feed people to the wolves with that mandate.

You cant make other people change their minds when its so easy to surround yourself with only one point of view. This applies to the left as well, especially here, on this forum. Australia has a similar situation in fact in that after Whitlam (a genuine socialist) put in UHC aka Medibank, the conservative cunts removed it a year later. In 1984 Hawke / Keating reinstated it and got it right. What happened after that is Hawke and Keating won the debate by explaining why we should pay up 2% on our wages to do a proper UHC - and won it in such a way that when the conservative cunts that would love to destroy UHC even BREATHE about touching Medicare they get utterly howled down with cricket bats by even the people that voted in the conservative cunts - to the point where when arch oval office Howard(*) (who was one of the main people who got rid of UHC first time around) got full Parlimentary control in 2004 (Simple majority to pass any legislation in both houses) he didnt dare touch it. It's simply become a sacred cow - you touch our UHC, you get loving destroyed.

And I have to point out that UHC first AND second time around was done in a minority Senate where the conservative cunts could block it - and did. Whitlam had the balls to go to an election on the issue, Hawke found enough votes in the crossbench

Basically you need Democrats with loving balls - and undeniably that Democrat needs to white and probably male because if how sexist and racist those right wing scum are - and to do it properly in such a way it becomes a sacred "You touch our healthcare you loving die" situation. It's not like doing it properly is that hard either, just copy any of 33 other countries with UHC. Now wether you have Democrats with balls.... yeah well that's a problem.Cant help you on that one.

(*) I might point out Howard tried to bring in a employment situation more along the lines of the US, they got nuked at the next election. The mere mention of the word Workchoices is enough to have any politcan from the right scurrying to deny they want anything to do with it.

Regardless of whether or not the voter supports racist ideals, they voted for someone who endorses and supports racists. I'm sure not every Confederate hated black people, they still fought tooth and nail for a white supremacist movement.

There was no mystery to what Trump endeavored to do, or what sort of ideals he supported on the campaign trail.
