Haier posted:Wait, so, the Americans were human waving Chinese, and were copying famuurse Chinese tactics against Chinese, who were not following famuurse Chinese tactics? No, no, no. The handful of Americans dig in and get stormed by dozens of Chinese, but you are supposed to root for the guys running into that field of fire and all the traps because they are Chinese. Most movies would present the struggle of a handful of men against dozens as heroic and it is even framed that way here, but despite what it shows you on screen the movie wants you to think the Americans are cheating because they use tactics and don't just run into the Chinese bullets. They are not playing fair, using their advantages. I also loved how the main Chinese guy laughs at the Americans fighting for money. He fights for CHINA. Somehow it doesn't really rhyme with what I read in this thread.

One of my best and oldest friends here in the states is going out with a mainland Chinese gal and it's getting serious. He made a point to tell me she puts ice in her drinks and doesn't like China very much anymore though so maybe there's hope.

Well, we go hard and play ball the hardest and best. You know that. What do you want me to do?" Xi: "TELL THEM TO STOP CHEATING!" Trump: "It's going to cost you..." Xi: "How much ketamine?" I like the notion that preparation and tactics are merely tricks of the white man and the legit way to wage war is to just keep running at them until they run out of bullets. It's like w/e somebody said in here earlier about those mythical martial art legends just being people with ordinary situational awareness.

In Chengdu there was a picture of a man who said that his skill was putting people in jobs based on their skills. That was why he was famous in ancient China. He was able to place someone who was good at something in a job that did that thing. Which of course, implies that if you can do that, you deserve a portrait and praise. The lack of competence in China in...well everything I guess makes sense when looking through that lens

Been two years and I never watch these kind of movies sober, but I think something like that happens. There is a sniper and the Chinese solution is to empty everything they have into a tree, cutting it down and taking cover behind it. The sniper shrugs and walks away. This is portrayed as a great victory for China. Despite the fact that a few of them died. I think he comes back again and shoots some more, before they kill him. There is also a kung fi knife fight with wolves. And an enormous Chinese military exercise gets infiltrated by a few hundred drugdealers or something. Maybe a bioweapon was involved too, though it could be that I'm mixing things up. I can really recommend this movie.

The chipmunks keep the big bad wolves at bay with sticks, smiles, and sunshine. I was wanting to be a wolf in about 15 seconds because their toys were so loving awesome.

If it makes you feel better I watched a Chinese person from tech get her foot stuck in the revolving door and collapse screaming, causing several people to be stuck. This was literally 5 mins ago when I grabbed lunch and I kept thinking about it and laughing. I'm not 100% sure what happened but I guess she kicked her foot back really high as the door turned and it totally caught her and I guess crushed her foot/ankle region.

Her ankle didn't like tear or snap. It just got wedged somehow by her own goofy movement (I assume) and yes I did have an internal laugh as I watched people become stuck in the door over it. But I'm enjoying the utter outrage in here over it. Also the suggestion that I'm being racist over it is, like, Italian man kissing fingers good.
