Groovelord Neato posted:doesn't retail lose more jobs every month than coal has in total? lol Yeah the entire coal industry including admin and corporate and miners and everyone only employs like ~50k people. Whole Foods employs like ~70k last I checked. And it's not that those jobs aren't important to the people that work them and the people they support but if you're looking for a meaningful increase of total jobs available then... it's not going to come from coal. Especially since we've been producing more than we use or export since like 2003 (which is well before Obama!) so there has been a supply glut for almost two decades now. There isn't going to be some sharp uptick in export demand either because the price of coal mined domestically versus the price of shipping halfway across the world makes it pretty much stupid to do in any meaningfully huge quantity. Plus the major importers/users are already cutting back on coal use, not using more. Coal's future is going to be predominantly metallurgical and not for power generation - but metallurgical coal use accounts for like 1-3% (can't quite remember the exact number) of current coal usage. It's all very lol. e: edited a bit for more detailed lols COMRADES fucked around with this message at 21:36 on Aug 6, 2017 |

Before the military takeover basic goods were sold for hugely inflated prices by the mine owners; water cost $3 a litre ($ 8.72 in 2017).[5] The infamous Sebastião Rodrigues de Moura (known more by his nickname Coronel Curió) managed the mine for a brief period.[7]
